  • i'm a first soprano in my head voice and whistle register, but i have a much stronger chest voice and the only part of this that was hard was the high note at the end in chest voice. it's not low at all?!

  • @YOUD0NTKN0WME i'm soprano too and i don't think it's too high either...

  • People that are complaining about thinking its too low, Ever thought of singing it up an octive? =_=

  • is this song to low for you? :O

i am 1. soprano (the highest voice) and I can sing it,,

  • @mallah109 The difference between sopranos and altos isn't only in their range. It's in the notes you feel most comfortable with. You're just lucky to have a wide vocal range.

  • @julliehideaway oh,, okay :) I didn't know that :P

  • Can you please tell me what company I can get this from?? I want the original version for my player. Thanks.

  • i love signing this songg!!

  • @bayonesa33 drums, sax, possibly horn or trumbone

  • the ending is sooo hard. : /

  • I sung this in choir. And we had to do a dance. The version we sung wasn't too low for any of us. But the dance was interesting...

  • I can't sing all of it in chest voice :( But it's good for me to practice on! Thanks for posting this :)

  • Where can I download this version as a mp3 to use for an audition? I just got one of itunes but this version is better for me.

  • the women had to rouge their knees because they used to dance in charleston style and their knees use to get wounded from hitting together. so they rouged them to cover them up

  • Perfect. Thank you so much :)

  • Love this song, there's so many different versions on karaoke it's hard to choose the best but this version is great.x

  • I'm 13 and I can sing 3 octaves so I can sing pretty much any song :D but I prefer singing soprano

  • i'm lucky cause im 14 and already have roughly a three octave range so i can sing most things but this is a great version so thanks!!!! i really enjoyed singing it....xxx

  • i'm 14 and i have such a deep voice only jazzy songs suit my voice :L does anybody know any other songs similer to this? thanks xx

  • @sweetsugarpumpkin - it's not overly similar, but Amy Winehouse songs are normally a good bet for altos :)

  • perfect for my voice thou

    thank you

won my talent contest with this one ..so...

    i owe you:P

  • is there any way you could get me the download for this song?

  • i can

  • Thanks!! I'm going to Velma in my schools production of Chicago so this is wonderful!

  • does anyone know a free download i can get of thiss version?

  • heyyyyyyy this is really useful thanks, although i still can't find a version online that starts on an e which is what i need, but you said this is too low for you, if you sing it starting on an e its higher so prolly better for your voice aswell as mine :)

i have the sheet music for it on an e, and do that with the piano but i have my audition coming up soon and can only practise when someones playing in the piano part really :/

but this is really helpful still so thankss :)

  • perfect. i can sing alto and soprano good so this is awesome. love the song.

  • Woopey, perfect! Thank u!!

  • i love this song. i was going to perform run by leona lewis for an assessment peice i'm doing in january, but i'm doing this one instead now as i can move around the stage more. i even have a routine for it :L thanks for the karaoke version :D xxx

  • i am an alto and im a girl and its the range i can sing so it musnt be damagig my voice as i am getting better and being able to sing higher now so it musnt be damaging my voice!

  • where did you get this version from?

  • this is the only kind of musig I can really sing.. :D:D and I simply love this song!!

  • This is really good. best karaoke ive found of it lol!

    xxx

  • thanks a lot! now i can go to the casting with these song!

  • =D G00D

  • I generally sing Soprano 1 but I can sing this song and I love it. Thanks, stageleft- and maybe if you try warming up your lower range some more you could sing this! or just adjust the key. haha.

  • I have a strong voice. I normally sing soprano 1, and can hit a high c. But I can also sing as low to tenor. :) I guess having a strong voice helps me do that. I love this song.

  • If you're a girl - singing in the tenor range can damage your voice. I'd be careful if In were you.

  • it won't damage your voice if that's your natural range! This song's just right for me, thanks Stageleft.

  • unless you're like me and have a 4 octave range. My younger sister, my last choir director (female), and an old college roommate all had natural tenor/2nd alto ranges. It's not unheard of for women to have low ranges.

  • I love to sing this! Perfect for my alto voice! Thanx.

  • woo thanks XD im auditioning for a musical and i could really use this, thankies!

  • Thx, i need this for my audition

  • That was the best Chicago with lyrics i've seen (/herd??)

thanks so much. im doing it in a school production soon and i need practice it, i'm a soprano, thanks so much!!!

    xxxxxxxx

  • check out me singing all that jazz for an audtion

  • There are loads of songs out there for alto/ belter voices!! if you look into any kander and ebb stuff! "Chief, cook and bottlewasher" , "Its a Quiet thing" is a good ballad" " isnt this Better?" another great song! And obvious ones from Cabaret! Look into Ivor Norvello and Cy coleman stuff as well! good jazzy tunes for lower voices! Hope that helped

    xx

  • Hold on its a bit fast unless the into has been cut short I can sing it!!!! Im mezzo soprano.

  • So you can hit all the notes on a staff - no wonder it's not hard for you.

  • luv it

  • great song:)

  • Thanks! I'm an alto and I was looking for that for a LONG LONG LONG time!!! Lol!!!

  • ah, another alto(ed) retro tune... my fav

  • oh no sopranos. don't try to take this away from us. haha. i'm sure your voice is lovely, but... this song an alto can only truly rock it.

  • is there a link?

  • me too.

  • Altos can sing the song well too. I'm a mezzo-soprano, so I can do all the notes on a staff for the female part, but my strong point are the lower notes, which this song consists of.

  • Thanks! Unfortunately, the only other alto song I know of is "The Ladies Who Lunch."

  • oh yes! totally useful!

    - a totally thankful alto obssessed with this song. (:

    h

  • nto right lyrics

  • what does rouge my knees mean?

bcus were doing this for (middle school) chrous, and our teacher had to change some of the words.

    Lol. i dont understand half this stuff; But i like the osng (;

  • In the time this musical is set in, a woman showing her knees was very provocative. Rouge is a pinkish makeup. Evidently, some women put rouge on their knees to make them more attractive. Usually rouge is used on the face, though.

Hehe, I can see why your teacher would have to change some of the lyrics.

  • actually iI went to a workshop in NYC with the current broadway cast and she explained to us that the lyrics is "I'm gonna rouge my knees" because normally, ladies back then would ALWAYS wear stocking when they went out, that would cover their legs, but you would put rouge on your knees to make them look nicer, sort of like make up. It's implying that you know your stockings are gonna be coming off tonight so you want your legs to look good.

thus why your teacher took out the lyric. hahaha.

  • @x3BabeyLovex3 Rough her knees implied she was going to get down on her knees for sexual purposes

  • @x3BabeyLovex3 political correctness gone mad

  • @x3BabeyLovex3 actually - rouge my knees - means - and I'll be blnut - it means getting on your knees to perform a sex act... and well.. their knees get red... its a very sexual musical... im surprised you're doing it in middle school - saying that tho so is Grease...and thats always done.....

  • @charliefoxx81 no it was that women wore make up so when they take their stockings off (for sex) they looked nice mostly hookers and cabaret show girls

  • @x3BabeyLovex3 The woman would roll down her stockings and get on her knees to,,,

  • @x3BabeyLovex3 my sister told me that rouging your knees meant that you were on your knees alot... lol. idk.

  • thanks a lot for this, out of all the songs i hear this one really suits my voice, would you happen to know any other songs from musicals that are similar?

because ive loked on quite a few and there all out of my range.

  • is there any way i can download this?

  • Thank you! I need this, finally found a song that suits my voice!

  • that is what i needed for months

  • hehe, well I guess your wish was fulfilled. :)

  • thank you)))it really suits me)))))

  • oh thank God. Im freakin cus im singing this at and audition and have yet to play with the person who is the accompanist. i had nothing but this to relay on and practice.

    thanks a load

  • You're so welcome. (:

You really should try and practice with the accompanist before hand, if you can. I can't guarantee their version will be exactly the same as this...

  • Oh no i totally know. Ive been in theatre for a while. But we had a huge snow storm and i've only been to school for like two days, monday and friday. lol

    but thanks a load

  • heyhey! you were right about altos finding this useful! i'm an alto with a jazzy feel to my voice. i recently discovered 'chicago" and decided to give this song a go!

  • i need lyrics

  • Its not at the same time of the song

  • thank you thank you thank you this is my solo in my schools spring concert and i needed to practice with out the voice

    bless you!!!

  • thank you

  • that's what I need ;]
