  • Your thunder is very lovely. <3 I have 2 babybunnys from my girlrabbit. And one of the babie has head tilt too. But she is very happy an nicely. I love her.

  • @AliceimAlptraumland I'm glad to hear you love your baby rabbit even if she has head tilt. :) I'm sure she is a sweet bunny and very happy to have someone who loves her so much.

  • It's actually wry neck. Our rabbit didn't respond to treatment and we wound up having to have him euthanized. Not all rabbits respond to the treatment. Our vet told us eventually he wouldn't be able to eat. That's what happened. Other rabbits do respond and can be pulled out of it. I think it's more prevalent in floppy eared rabbits like Holland Lops.

  • How does a rabbit get head tilt? Are they born with it? Or do they break there necks?

  • @eevelutionsfan They aren't born with it and it isn't a broken neck. It is normally from an infection. It can be bacterial or from a parasite or even a virus. In my rabbit's case it was a inner ear infection that destroyed what is called the vestibular nerve in his ear.

  • Thanks, this was very useful to me as I feared my rabbit has Wry Neck xo

  • @TheStacySparkle You are very welcome. I am so glad this was helpful. That was my hope. I hope your bun is ok.

  • Panacur is a cure for E Cuniculi (Head Tilt) Get some from the vet or pet store. Re treat yearly.

  • hi tamtom, my rabbit stayed over the vet last night cause he was diagnosed with vestibular sydrome, he has been on treatment for over 12 hours and still no sign of improvement, we are not giving hope yet...

how is ur rabbit now anyway, is he fully recovered from his head tilt

  • Hi chicouk- Sorry it took so long to respond. My computer had to be fixed. I hope you haven't given up on your bun. Thunder is still tilted but he doesn't really roll anymore & he's the sweetest bun ever! He eats, drinks good & of course that leads to lots of poop & pee! He baths, hops & begs for attention/treats. His ears are clear now-just the tilt issue. I massage his neck, shoulders, whereever he wants-daily. Massage is important so the muscles don't atrophy (loss of muscle) & stiffen.

  • Hey Ros- I never knew about the veggies causing the poops to be more spongy. Thanks for letting me know. The probiotic is actually for small animals.

  • Good clip!

It's interesting how he can right his head when he has the spoon to pivot against. His head's still at 90 degrees to his body but it's much more upright. Glad you found him a tasty probiotic paste. Is that a horse probiotic?

Good that you're showing the poops too. My bunnies have moister, spongier fecals because of the amount of fresh veg and grass etc they get to eat, so they tend to be less crumbly than for a hay-fed rabbit.
