it's because you have a 3rd person view and having a 3rd person view you can see a lot more therefore it makes it easier to park.

Parallel parking is a lot easier if you have 200 feet between cars like in the video.

People in San Francisco, LA etc parallel park in 1.5 car lengths. This is why I don't drive in SF or LA :p

Wow its quite expensive... i mean 1800 euros!? The current law in my country requires 40 practical classes no theory lessons, just read a book and do the test (theory+practical). All in all it costs depending on a car (i took fiat punto) circa 250-300euros!

i pay £17 for my driving lesson im onto my 4th lesson, he picks me up at 1pm and lesson last an hour..

he takes me to industrial estate, takes about 15 minutes to get there and 15 minutes back so roughly he is learning me for lets just say near to 35 to 40 mins, so is he a rip off..because a hour driving lesson should be him learning me for the full hour..wud luv some info on this, or think i should change driving school..thanks

Well driving schools are expensive all over europe. Mine costs 1800 euros and it contains 32 driving lessons (25 minutes each) and some theory. Its normal for it to cost about 20 euros per lesson. But if youre unsure, compare the prices of your local driving schools. :)

No the frount of the car is more manoeuvrable so you reverse the back in then the frount can swing in, by doing this you can get into a space 1 1/2 car lenghts in 1 go, where you need atleast 2 1/2 going in forwards without adjustment

It is easy too..The tips for parking between two slots are,

1- you keep enough distance from the cars parked in slot (approx 2-3 feet) before starting the manoeuver,

and 2- watch both side mirrors frequently. Practice of this manoeuver will make you perfect in couple of days.

In Michigan, USA you have to take segment one which is 3 weeks of classes. During those classes you drive with an instructor 6 times 1 hour each. You also have to pass a written test. Then you need to have written proof of 30 driving hours. Next you take segment 2 which is 3 days long and you have to pass a written test. Then you have to prove that you have 50 hours of drive time. Finally, you take the road test and do parallel parking and driving. If you pass you can get your license.

actually, now that I think about it, there is a small driving test. You take two written tests, one about facts and another over signs.If you pass (70 or higher) you get your permit. Then you have six 1 hour drive times. Then you take a test where you just drive in a little neighborhood and make a couple U-turns and a quick stop. They NEVER fail anyone. Then you just wait six months and go pick up your license on your birthday. (sorry if that was a longer answer than you were looking for)

Its a state by state thing in the US, Where I live (New Jeresy) you take 1 test when your 16 then you get a permit and you can drive with a licensed person for 6 months then when you turn 17 you get to do a driving test that does cover parallel parking, then you get a real license or close to it
