for the life of me, I could not find this song!!! did not know the name! finally...browsing through....here it is! So happy! I remember listening to my old college radio station back in the 90's and trying to tape it!!! lol I just pictured the entire song in my head! lol feeling that I want to......tonite!!! wow wow wow!
Heard this track at The Shelter back in the day......people starting going crazy.....there were people on the dance floor crying and singing it......It was one of my first great experiences of House Music......from the start,to the middle,to the slowing down near the end,to the speed up....this is one of the great ones.......this is one of the tracks that pull me into Househead Heaven........now I am certified...
Great track. Serious New Jersey styled track with a bit of B'more bounce. Love the emotive aspect of it all throughout. Great example of 90's house that pays homage to the early Chicago stuff as well as what influenced a lot of the European tracks.
Haven't heard this song since the 90's and have been searching the web for it, just found it today. Great house song! Brings back a lot of memories! Clubbing was the best in those days, awesome music!
I remember buying this album in Philly and taking it back to West Virginia, where I went to college. I played it at a party and the Niggas from New york, Jersey, Philly, B-more, D.C., and Chicago that when to school their, lost their minds. One Homie from New York actually try to buy the album from me for $25. that was alot of money back in 91', of course i told him NO!
Love this song so much, the memories from those days were sooo great this tune makes me sad for those days again...baltimore is no new york, but in the 90s b-more had a true, thrieving, underground house scene and this song by the basement boys and all others is a real testiment to b-more and its underground music scene back then, this song says it all for b-more,this song comes from the natives of this small city..true to the sound&sub-culture of garage&house music.
@joecc6 yes sir, along with, teddy d,spin, david robbinson, pope, tommy, ouji, jerome hicks, sean marshall, tracy, boobie, taunz and many others, but frank ski and pope lit a fire to the whole city and thats all bmore was about back then, gargage and house and club which is still going on now,but b-more club style came out of the underground house scene so there was and still is a mix of the 2 styles being played...depending on what club u go 2 of course.
Yesss Indeed!! I had this on a mixed tape from DJ Hollywood from Newark NJ back in 1991!!! Grooving to this riding to Zanzibar!! But I'm from Philly!! Truly the best times of my life!! House Music 4ever!!
WOW! LIVE IN FL NOW. DON'T MISS NY, BUT YOU BROUGHT ME BACK!!!!! IF YOU SAW THE VIDEO TO HOPLESS PLACE THAT WAS MY LIFE TO THE SOUND TRACK OF ALL THE PLACES THAT YOU MENTIONED. SAD BUT SO MUCH FUN !!!
CLASSIC !! I LOVE MUSIC BUT THIS TUNE AMONG ALL THAT I HAVE IT`S NUMBER ONE IT WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVORITES..GOD I WISH I COULD HAVE THAT OLD DAYS BACK!! MISS IT!
No better place to listen to this tune than New York. Arriving in NY for the first time and going out at the same day at night to the clubs and see all the club scene of the 90´s, great atmosphere ! I remember the smells, great looks..Wow ! how I miss it, classic best of all !! nuthing ccompares to that..this tune used to play at the radio station Hot 97.I have tears in my tears in my eyes honestly !!
@manny78able Giving you a high five on that note, my friend. I feel you, feel you, feel you. Much love to you, New York, the supermodels and those days gone by!!!!
IM FUCKING TRIPPING !!!! I FUCKING LOVE THIS MIX !! THE BEST NEW YORK`S RADIO STATIONS HOT 97 !!! I CAN NOT BELIEVE I FOUND IT !! |FUCKIN GREAT BEAT... IT BRINGS OLD MEMORIES ...I MISS NY !!!
Such a tune. Probably my favourite house record ever - proper B-line driven house, and the intro is just perfect. You could play this now and it would still sound great.
Saturday Night/Sunday Morning @ Sound Factory, March 16/17, 1991...Frankie played this track 3 times...the Reverse Remix twice and this one last!!! Thanx to DJ Juan Spencer (of 12" Dance DC) for taking me & my buddy Rodney on that road trip that night from DC to NY (and subsequently getting the 12'' for me)! His mixtapes for the road were FIERCE! Frankie also played his "Whistle Song" and "Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless)" thrice that night as NONE of those trax were released at that time.
@STLHouseLegend GOOD OLD DAYX (NIGHTS)...THE TUNNEL...SOUND FACTORY...WILD PITCH///THE OCTAGON...CLUB CAVIAR....THE AFTERLIFE...THE SOUND FACTORY BAR!!!!!! AND IN NJ....ZANZIBAR!!!! IT WAS ADDICTION, PROUDLY!!
When I was 16 y/o I was partying, uh, a LOT--I just lived to be at the club, basically. Well, because I was leading a pretty fast life at the time, I told my brother that if I died I wanted this to be the song that was played at my funeral!! Lordy, Lordy Miss Shorty--I was a mess baby!! But for real this is one of the all-time best trax ever, and I thank you for posting. Any chance we could get the B-side? That was the sick dancefloor beat b/c you could layer it over any hard track... XOXO
I WAS 15, IN HIGH SCHOOL WORKING PART TIME AND SAVING UP MY ALLOWANCE JUST TO BUY MY RECORDS AND CD'S AND MIXING THIS HOT TRACK OM MY MIXTAPES ALONG WITH OTHER SICK JOINTS, THAT MADE IT TREMOR ON THE DANCEFLOOR. ANOTHER LOVE MAKING CLASSIC! I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS JOINT ONLINE AS WELL FOR YEARS B/C I LOCKED UP MY VINTAGE RECORDS TO PASS ON TO MY NEXT GENERATION. 1
Oh My GOD!This was one of the hottest tracks back in the day. I love this. Only someone with the knowledge of house music and taste on their tongue could understand how hot it really is. This is what they played in the club to cool everyone down after an upbeat house track. You could just pace yourself with your dancing to cool off before the DJ picked it back up. WOW. Godd job KUOTA51. You know your shit.
@kobe10uk how can i get a copy of this track greatest i have two copies on vinyl but i was looking for it like from a bit torrent or limewire & no luck so far
Jersey!! Zanzibar, Club 88, Sensations, Club Napoleon, Dazzles, Crystals, Club America, Peppermint, Club Kyaam, Gregorys, Bogeys, Le Prairies, damn and my club on Main St. that shut down, I'm blank now! Anyway...JERRRRRSEY!
Humphries dropped this at the Southport Weekender afterparty a few weeks ago- i hadn't heard it for ages- properly lost my mind i can tell you ha ha. Bona fide house classic this baby.
reminds me of driving home from Venus down the M1 and the M62 in the early hours with the windows down and the warm sticky air as the sun came up over the Peninines.
one of THE best house productions of all time, along with Don Carlos' Alone.
SO great! The intro, the rhythm, the atmosphere; grr! First time I heard this was through a remix (almost a remake!): think it was of the norwegian "Make A Move" by Snikksnakk, the remix was based on "Tonite". "Tell him that I want make love to him tonight"!
when New York had over 30-40- Mega clubs, all packed to the rafters. I was at Sound Factory with 10 of my friends on the dance floor and Junior put this on for the first time. We thought we would lose our minds
Junior wore this out at Sound Factory, Sugar Babies wore it out, Sound Factory Bar wore it out, let me see who else wore it out........Save the Robots!!!! Lol!!
I agree. I just meant it was a very particular and short time in New York history. For a certain period it was Frankie Knuckles and David DePino as DJ's at The Sound Factory. It didn't last for long but a few special records broke exactly at that time and this was one of them. I use music a lot of time to jar my memory to bring me back to where I was. There are DEFINITELY other songs that bring me back to Sound Factory with Junior spinning, in fact many like Let's Go by Fast Eddie.
Crazy you brought that up. I just googled "blacksheep at soundfactory bar" to see if I could find some old fliers. I saw them live there back in the day, but a fght broke out and some hot head grabbed a gun. Usual stuff for clubs back then...
Thats crazy.....they were supposed to perform at kilimanjaro's back when their 1st album dropped and a fight broke out there and someone got shot.....right before they were supposed to get on stage!
This IS HOUSE MUSIC! I remember dancing to this all nite long at Zanzibar, The Fever, Danceteria, Paradise Garage! All my NYC Househeads you remember! I see you!
this was another kicka at the ClubHouse in DC!!! Damn, I had to play this one again!! This has brought back so many memories!!!! Man, and when they cut all the lights out in that club, and turned the tweeters up, it was hell in that club!!! Man, I am missing it!!!
I recently saw the play "For Colored Girls...." and while watching, one of the characters uttered the same words heard at the intro to this song! I thought I'd ...well u know. The song is and will always be Fierce!
Back room at Limelight(before Michael A)..they used to play the best house in that back room with the chandelier...this track was a guarantee....absolute classic.!
i get chills each time i hear it. never gets old to me. love this music. speaks to me. it's like of raw emotion had a sound this music would be it. check out my playlist called MUSIC STUFF for more like it.
Holy Crap! I was there that night too! Seems like yesterday and a thousand years ago at the same time. It was the first time he played it. An old friend who was there that night signed it to MCA the following week. The part that always gets me is when the base kicks back in after the break, followed by that hand clap and that forever unforgettable sample "tell him that I want to make love to him tonight"
yes. i remember when it started to slow down we thought something was wrong. then it stopped and started again, it was crazy. it was a great time for the music back then. but nothing lasts forever.
AAAAAHHHHHHHH YYYYEEEAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I feel like living in 1991 when it comes to hearing this jam. Personally I think "Love Don't Live Here Anymore(1986)" and this track were the best Basement Boys stuff that I heard. And as a matter of fact, the only two.
LOL...aww come on, what about "Lift Every Voice" by Mass Order and "Scandal" by Ultra Nate?!?! straight bangers by Bassment Boys as well! -but that's just me.
The Youth of today is robbed is so many different ways .... it's sad.

MonkeyBarz179 2 years ago
Word, Kiliminjaros was off the chain. That was originally Red Zone, right? Then became Home Base if I remember correctly.

Who are "Those Guys" did they make the song? I think it is remixed by Basement Boys. No mention of who Those Guys are.
liberalmorons 3 years ago
Those Guys are The Basement Boys but the vocals are Eleanor Mills.

I remember the first time I heard it in the sound factory. They played it from the begining, it was beyond words. Otherwordly.

Holy Crap! I was there that night too! Seems like yesterday and a thousand years ago at the same time. It was the first time he played it. An old friend who was there that night signed it to MCA the following week. The part that always gets me is when the base kicks back in after the break, followed by that hand clap and that forever unforgettable sample "tell him that I want to make love to him tonight"
bubbagaw 3 years ago
yes. i remember when it started to slow down we thought something was wrong. then it stopped and started again, it was crazy. it was a great time for the music back then. but nothing lasts forever.
