Never seen red factor suns before. They are beautiful. I have always wondered, though. Why is it that Sun conures have an immense fascination with finger nails? Lol My Jen/Sun never left mind alone. Lol She also had a tendency to attack my fingers when I was typing. That's just too cute.
Hi! I have 1 Sun Conures. A boy and a girl. The boy is about 9 months old. The girl is 1 year and 3 months. Is it possible to breed them at this age? If so, please give me some tips!
@Therther48 Please don't breed! There are thousands of Sun Conures without homes right now. They are available just about anywhere, unlike the Red Factor Suns. Also, your birds are too young to breed. Yes, they 'can', but shouldn't. There is more to breeding (responsibly) than just putting 2 together. Just enjoy your pets!
Many years ago I bred a pair of Suns. The female was the younger one and at 4 yrs of age she laid her first clutch, but none was fertile. The 2nd clutch all were fertile.
I love that little grunting noise Sunny's make! It's the cutest thing... Next year, when I've finally moved into my new place, I'm going to have to make a hard decision between getting a Sunny or maybe a quiter parrot. I love Sunny's so much, but I also like to have quiet when I'm studying. Decisions decisions...
@aubriesanimals females will lay eggs if stimulated...i have just one bird...a female pineapple conure. when she comes in heat i have to be careful. no petting under the wings or low on the back. she gets super horney. no point in having her go through egg laying if nothing is to be produced. youre right, shes being stimulated enough to lay an egg but he must be "doing" it wrong :P you got some pretty birds btw.
@MegaSplatypus 'Single factor red factor sun conures', like Sunkiss and Pyro, are rare, more people are claiming red factor sun conures who don't have the red-orange color all over, so you just have to watch out for them. Even as babies, they have the red orange color on most of their body.
Aw! I love how they come to your hand like that, very cute! I have a pair of sun conures, ones a girl and ones a boy. I've had them for a while, and I was wondering how you get them to sit on your hand like that? And do you know any way to teach them not to bite? They do come out of the cage, but every time I try to touch or hold them, they bite? Any advice? -Thanks(=
@toochizzy89 It might be best to take a little time each day for them individually to train them not to bite. I would take one at a time to a separate room to work with him or her. Have a lot of treats ready (grapes, peanuts, sunflower seeds) something that they like really well and try to get your bird to take it from your hand and say good bird whenever it does something you want it to. Eventually you can start putting the treat just a little out of reach over your other hand so it has to step
i love how they just fly to ur hand and just do their own thing my sun hes about 7 months and he kind of just is still getting used to things like he acts like hes not settled and he just not loose enough if you know what i mean he will stepup and roam around alittle bit but wont actually like play and stuff any tips and if this is just a stage were hes just not used to everything then then do you think he start to warm up to the house and everyone?? and any tips to break him in?benhere4 6 weeks
@177gaga Just try spending time with it whenever you can. My sun conures cage is in our living room, so they see us all the time and whenever I eat breakfast, lunch, and supper I try to share some of my food with them. Bananas, cooked pasta, corn, eggs, etc. Also, training builds trust, so if you search for different bird tricks on youtube - like 'the wave', 'turn around,' etc. Training your sun should bring it out of its shell. It only took a week for my new parrots to follow me around & play
hi i got a parolet and a love bird very cute the love bird is a female and the parolet is a male but it seems that my parolet bites her laeg and does a weird and funny neck thing i was just wondering how do i get them to mate

@billabong9494 I might be a little partial to sun conures, but I would have to encourage you to get your favorite :) lol whatever that might be.

Did they breed? And was it hard to accomplish?
AsylumKid1 7 months ago
@AsylumKid1 They lay infertile eggs twice a year, I'm not sure if they are breeding right or if my male is just sterile...

@MegaSplatypus Yes, they are pretty rare. Especially single factor red factor sun conures (red suns that look like these)

Isn't it a mutation?-- I thought they don't exist in the wild.
