I hope you didnt make state. (and im pretty sure you didnt)I played this etude last year on bass clarinet. you murdered the weird part in the middle. oh well. it was ok.
Very very nice, I played this for my audition this year for 9-10 All-State Bb Clarinet for Florida. I also got in on Eb clarinet, but this is a very tough etude, one of the toughest etudes in the rose book.
I was going to audition for Missouri's all-state band on my Eb contra, but they said they didn't have any need for one. Another reason I'm jealous of Texas music programs.
It wasn't as great as i thought it would be after reading the comments. Your tone sucked in the lower register and the technique was not there. Sorry man, good try
The contra alto will always be my fav, (though I did march with it for a week while my alto sax was in the shop...don't ask ^_^) how did the audition go?
Very nice.I played the contra in school for many years..I found it to be my favorite and not at all as imposing as most people think (esp. If your in love with it). I marched with a bass though..I was way to short to march with that thing, lol.
wow....just wow....i play contra-alto clarinet in my HS band and i wish i could play like that...and do you march that thing in marching band? its a real pain in the ass to do hahah
I used to play the Contra-alto. I remember a time in Junior high, when I first started, I played a note, and it rattled the pipes in the ceiling at my school!
Great instrument, and an even better player! I played until last semester (11th Grade), you are better than I ever was!
is that from rose 32 etudes.. it's very familiar.. im on number 31 now.. 30 is fun to play and 26 is hard.. but once you perfect it it's fun it sounds great... but im talkin about Bb clarinet so idk if you have the same book
its a bit harder than bass, because on the bass clarinet there are flaps that go over the key holes, and on clarinet most of the holes are open. this makes it harder to hit some notes, because your fingering has to be precise and not sloppy. too bad mine is very sloppy, and that is why i dont play alto clarinet.
Hey great job! I used to play a mean Bb Contrabass Clarinet in high school...I loved the thing to death! Nothing like hitting the super low notes and feeling the vibrations, lol. Well, keep up the good work!
Holy crapnuts. Good job on this. Sounds like a bitch to play :P Lmfao. I haven't played the contraalto, but I did the contrabass, that things big, lol. I feel your pain :P
Oh, that's cool. I tried out on bass clarinet, but made fourth chair T.T at all-valley. But we didn't have a pre-area, so.. I didn't advance anyfurther
How long have you been practcing this? I looked at the fingering and its pretty hard. And whats your setup? I think we all want to know :P.

what instrument do you play? and who is the composer of that piece.
wwright01 5 years ago
That instrument is huge. Do you have to carry it aroud all day. I play the tenor saxophone and it seems like a load to carry around.
