Oh pleasseeeeeeeeeeee! Those celebrities left their egos at the door? LOL. How do we know that they left their egos as the door? There were probably egos, tensions, arrogance, YOU NAME IT! Arrogance is the life of the rich and famous.
We are doing LESS with MORE. 25years ago they didn't have Protools,Logic,Autotune and all of the digital toys and tricks we have today yet the sound quality back THEN is Still 1000 percent better!!! Each performance on the original has that wow factor and you can feel it even to this day. We Have To Go Back To REAL ARTIST,PRODUCERS,WRITERS,MUSICIANS. Its a shame that 25yrs later we couldn't do any better than this. Where is our QUINCY'S and MJ's of today? WE ARE WISER BUT WEAKER!!!
Seriously why dont these rich celebs just dig deep and donate so not to subject us to this horrible remake of an already horrible song,{ that was a ripoff of "feed the world"} which was great. Not to sound like a hater, cuz I miss M.J. as much as anyone but this is pretty bad.
I agree they should've donated money instead, however if you were asked to record a Legend Song by the Old Golden Celebrities, anyone would've jumped at that chance.
nice to see that Barbra Streisand's doing this version (originally, her manager suggested that she didn't participate in the 1985 version, but Barbra later regretted that decision and then participated in 1986's Hands Across America).
i feel like you cant just remake this song, its a classic...it was meant for children in africa...i feel like if they wanna make a song for haiti it should be a new one they write on their own...and it wont be as good, you cant make this song without michael jackson! and you cant make it without bruce springsteen and cindy lauper and all that crowd, hello people...DO NOT ruin classics!!!
I would rather all these celebritys donate their money to the cause rather than ruin a legendary recording We are the World USA for Africa was a legendary performance that will last in our hearts forever. The remake is just to make these celebs look good
as Michael would say " All I want to say is that they don't really care about us"
celebrities shud donate some of there money aswell and stop relieing on us but they are helping by trying to create this song.. ? no point protesting it cos u might not think its helping but if you asked people in haiti i bet they would say thank you
ll these celebs should donate their own money 1 million each times 50 celebs is already 50 million for haiti.they won't even feel it. the remake is a joke ,old washed up artists and justin beever!!!!!!!! give me a fuckin brake. complete disgrace!!!..stop the embarassment . we have to protest this song.!!!!!!!11
If these SUPER RICH ENTERTAINERS are going to sing to encourage average people to give their money to some cause, the singers should be doing the same.
Methinks they should have to pay a minimum of $100,000 a piece to appear in this thing. That alone would have raised $10 million dollars for Haiti relief.
BTW, where was the fund raiser for middle America devastated by floods in the US midwest last year?
Oh yeah, we're really concerned celebs. "Hey you, valet, get away from my limo, you little jerk."

@ flyrphil - You write:
" why dont these rich celebs just dig deep and donate . . ."
Completely agree - they can easily afford it.
They think because they get up in front of cameras and sing a song, the average people of the USA should donate money to Haiti.
Under each close up, they should have the amount that "celebrity" gave to this cause.
It's like Oprah's "Angel Network" where she gets OTHERS to give THEIR MONEY to HER CAUSES to try and make her look good.

with due respect to singers of this REMAKE, they've done their best...it's in another genre...cant be compared to the original...both are great...
actually, the new one is better if we base to the variety...voice??....well, who can beat CELINE???...along with barbra et al...
the original singers were great too...so both versions are GREAT!!!!

What is the world coming to? Why don't they just send millions of money if it comes to that? Why make a great song horrible?
