  • Great cover. Totally, totally awesome.

  • "We the People" was a local band and use to play the Youth Center in Orlando.... I have heard this song live many times... this cover is not to bad...

  • well its hardly an original riff is it, plenty of songs with that sequence.

  • @thebandcoca care to name them? Do they also include "HEY!" as well? :)

  • omg this does sound like count in fives by the horrors. the horrors just sped it up.

  • it's a straight up cover of we the people- my brother the man

  • Holy shit it does sound like count in fives at first

  • yeh the horrors has copied the song...

  • you cannot make anything completely original nowadays and they are quite influenced by this group. so basicly every one is copying someone

  • the horrors took an idea from a riff and made a much better song is what you meant to say i'm pretty sure.

the riff is very similar, but it's pretty ridiculous to say they've copied the song.

they appropriated the style of riff and some of the yells but that's about it. i'd hardly call it a 'copy'. just had to say...

  • Well it quite blatantly IS a copy, they've barely changed a thing. But I have to argy that Count In Fives sounds better. Like most of THe Horrors' songs sound better than...most other things.

  • perhaps a 'blatant copy' of the riff to a degree, but they have changed plenty about the song, the whole song progresses differently, and the other parts are different. that one hook is pretty much the same though.

Good artists copy. Great artists steal. Picasso. Or as Jean Luc Godard said: "It's not where you take things from- it's where you take them to."

    that's my spin on it.

  • You misunderstand me. I'm very much on the Horrors' side. They made a better song.

  • very good but the original by we the people are way better. the riff is so amazing, and i think the horrors put it to good use in count in fives

  • i really "Love" Ur sound man, it really "MOVES" ! ! ! =O]

  • This is rad.

  • This is great! Well executed. For an "old guy" like me... who went to We The People shows in Central Florida... and my band, of course played 'My Brother The Man' fun stuff!!

  • its not a rip off of the horrors xD

With the limited amount of simple riffs that can be made its obviously not the SAME SONG

    if anything

    they made it better :)

  • are you kidding me? what you wrote is laughable, the horrors totally ripped this song off and made into this awful screamo piece of shit

  • no its not screamo idiot.

  • sounds fucking screamo to me you can't even make out one word that moron utters out

  • Yeah i noticed the horrors rip off when i stumbled across this video. Its blatant. Like this a lot.

  • This cover is perfect, even the "whoops"...

It's a pleasure to hear it, thanks for posting!

  • I'm so psyched right now to see this. My dad is Wayne Proctor, one of the lead guitarists for We The People. I grew up listening to this music, but didn't realize that so many other people love it too!

It's so great to see this - you guys did an awesome job!!!!

    -Aly

  • No way! Wayne is your dad? I'm David Duff's daughter. Were you at the show here last September?

  • "My Brother The Man"it song is for "The Fuzztones"??

  • the horrors really ripped this off... people have to be told about the original!

  • i agree with you

  • sorry about the MTM....should be MBTM....DLD

  • As a member of the original "We the People", I have to say your rendition of MTM is excellent. Where did you find our songs? We just did a reunion last year and that was the opening song. Nice to know the tradition is being carried forward. DLD (bass player)

  • Wow, you played in We The People?

Who are you, dude, I absolutely LOVE your band and everything they did.

The "Mirror Of Our Minds" double-CD on Sundazed is an excellent compendium, ultimately unearthing the full potential of one of the greatest, most underrated groups of the golden '60s (or any age, for that matter!!!)

The Moviees are excellent, too, and this version of MBTM ROCKS and has true garage attitude!!!

Paul Morabito, guitarist and singer, later joined the Chesterfield Kings.

  • I am David Duff. I played rythm guitar and later bass guitar. Myself, Randy Boyte, Tommy Talton and Wayne Proctor were the original group. We had various drummers thruout. Wayne and Tommy switched off and on as lead guitar. We all sang. Tommy lives in Macon, GA and Wayne lives in Anderson, SC. I live in Orlando, FL. It is nice to know your music never dies. DLD

  • Hey, David! I'm Alyson Proctor, Wayne's daughter. I just stumbled across this and noticed your messages. This really is a *great* rendition. Sounds almost just like you guys did it! I'm stunned!

  • ooo oo i can't help myself butting in here so 'Hang Me' for getting excited... um, my band love to do 'you burn me up and down' in our garage. thank you from Australia for THAT music! Ah David i see i can leave a comment on your personal page - sorry, guess i could CC it there too hehe.

  • Australia huh??? What a compliment. Tommy wrote the 2 you mentioned. Next time I see him I will pass on the sentiment. Thanx from us old guys DLD

  • David, when I heard your Hofner Club bass at the St Cloud Youth Center, I had to own one!

    (I still do) :)

  • cool video man
