Glock designed the slide lock to be just that...A SLIDE LOCK! Always train to power stroke your weapon!! WAY more reliable/faster than using a slide release.
just askin i have a gen 3 glock 17 that i have been using for some gssf events but is the only difference between 4 and 3 cosmetic such as slide and grip
@AdverbAdjective The texture is very improved over the Gen 3 pistols i.m.h.o. It is not as rough as the RTF Gen 3 guns either, kind of a good in between. I really hate grip tape, so I prefer firearms that have aggressive stippling or some other kind of rough surface. On the other hand, RTF is too aggressive for me. I know, I am kink of a bitch, but the Gen 4 is the best I have found yet. The XDM is pretty good too. Have you tried it?
as for using the slide release in critial incedents or high stress situations its use less man ..... not just on glocks using that is a fine motor skill do some research on what youre body does in those situations......youre heart rate will be well beyond 145 bpm where you will start losing youre fine and sometimes even somewhat youre gross motor skills
@bratland33 I would really like to know how many people YOU personaly have shot with MY g17 gen 4. Extended controls and custom triggers can transform a firearm. I am never planning on using my g17 in a personal defence situation. I do the best that I can as far as training and prepairing, but NOBODY is going to tell me that there is a best way to use my personal defense system. I train more than any law enforcement unit and probably more that any military unit with pistols. We make our own fate!
@bratland33 youre just repeating what you've heard from trendy people. In a gunfight seconds can mean the difference between life and death. using a slide stop to close the slide IS FASTER THAN PULLING THE SLIDE BACK MANUALLY. if you CAN do it then hit the lever. if you know you CANT, then do it the other way. By the way, pulling the slide back is NOT A GROSS MOTOR SKILL. it is a fine motor skill. an example of a gross motor skill would be walking or waving your arms. not a small grab and pull.
Respond to this video... no offense but why do you use the first 45 seconds to apologize and talk about how you could make videos like other people? just get on with the video next time. no one wants to listen to you whining.
@hulkbuster1026 Yes, they are tritium. EXTREMELY bright at night. If I wake up and have the gun at my side table, they are bright enough to outline the gun. Some may consider this a tactical disadvantage, but I think that is rocks! All in all, I am so happy that I may put them on my ak and possibly shotgun. XS make some great products.
that's funny....saw a 21sf for sale at my local gun store last week. i thought that the sf stood for slim frame, but what would i know. not fully auto, no butstock with out 16' barrel=legal for civilian use.
Hey. For a first video you did a good job. Very informative. I like your ideas for upgrades. I'm planning on getting the same firearm. I agree with you on the sights and I think I will be replacing them as well. The extended slide release is a must for all my glocks. The stock release lever is junk, but some people like it. The thing I like about the Gen 4 is the new mag release and the coil spring and guide rod.
if you get your glock with night sights the night sights are steel it raise the price of the glock $80 bucks though my glock 22 came with night sights and didnt even know it i like them they are almost like trijicon night sights
@theraptorofairsoft22 No, there is not a Glock that is only made for the military. Glocks have no traditional external safety and no DA/SA mode. Most military forces require these two features.
Thanks for the commnet Reckless40. I just went shooting today with my new sights from xs, the new extended slide release, and the AMAZING tactical trigger job by Charlie Vanek. I prefer the slide release technique because that is how I practice. All of the fireamrs instructors that say that technique is junk will also say that you fall back on your training, not rise to the occassion. That is what I hold to. If someone gets really fast with racking the slide with their teeth, then thats ok w/me.
Nice video. For years I trained to use the slide release. I thought of it as being slick, efficient, & quick. However it is a common teaching point that in a combat situation your fine motor skills deteriorate as your heart rate spikes upwards. IMHO thumbing the slide release is a fine motor skill. For this reason I started to train to rack the slide with my weak-hand (slingshot method) most of the time. I'm not saying one is better then the other, just food for thought.
@Reckless40 I fully agree with you. Another legitimate reason to not use the "slide release" is because its not actually designed as such. It is actually called a "slide stop". Releasing the slide with the slide stop will only wear down the slide stop mechanism itself. Think about it, it makes sense.
Nice bro! Love my gen 4 glock 22, havent had any malfunctions with my gen 4, 3, or 2 glocks. Like other guns but will always rely on my glock for the down and dirty.
@provenFATAL Thanks bud. I am going to get a do-over here pretty quickly. this being my first youtube video, i think that everything about it was pretty bad. a friend and i will be working together on some really entertaining and informative stuff here shortly. I hope you will stay tuned. btw....should i delete this vid when i get the do-over up? your thoughts?
@AdverbAdjective Glock makes a +2 extension for any of their mags making it a 19+1

The Gen 4 Glock 17 feels so good in my hand and in my opinion is Perfectly balanced.
Not a revolution but evolution by Glock.
It is as close to perfect as a 9mm can get.

Imho I think Glocks are some of the best made guns in the world.
I have a Glock 22 rtf2 and i have no problem with anything on it.
Slide release is fine (But i do have big hands)and the trigger is fine. I really cant even fine anything that i don't like about it.
Good video man.

Is'nt there a glock only issued to military personnel? and im talking to jfreeze2685
theraptorofairsoft22 1 year ago
@theraptorofairsoft22 The glock 18 is a fully auto version of the glock 17 and was actually the very first glock that was produced.
jfreeze2685 1 year ago

jfreeze2685 1 year ago
@jfreeze2685 The G18 was designed for military/police/swat/special forces/etc but it's not widespread and it probably is because of the now safety.
