Have to say I think this was the worst period for Johnny Cash. Humdrum nothing country band mediocrity that thankfully Rick Rubin could see through. It's just still so wonderful that he didn't see off his music career with gigs like this in the memory as opposed to the stripped down soul searching profoundness that performers a quarter of his age would still kill for.
