Agreed, the CC is a better guitar than the Maton 325. It's just my experience with the electronics which has put me off using a CC for gig work. In all fairness,the owner of Cole Clark contacted me personally and every time I had problem's, it was handled very well and my guitars were fixed and returned within a week. Only my Martin's and old Maton Messiah guitars are better for quality in my opinion.The CC are well worth buying.I love my CC 12 string and use for gigs all the time

Can you help me for choosing my Cola clark, FL1A or FL2A, wich woods combo is the best ( i 'm lookinf fo spruce / blackwood back & sides, is it the best choice,).

@nikkoja Sorry to jump in on ya post mate,Ive had both the FL1A and 2. I sold them due to the crap electrics letting me down 5 times onstage. 5 repairs and they were still crap.Nice guitar to play if ya not thinking of plugging in.I have a Cole Clark 12 string I use which is the BEST 12 I've ever heard.No problems with the electrics yet. If ya can afford it, buy a Maton 325 or lash out and get a Martin DC16GTE around $2500.Awesome tone

@leesmartin Thanks for the advices. I want a guitar great tone unpluged (I don't play on stage, just pluged for jam with friends). Maton guitar are nice too. Which one . Cole clark FL1A ? FL2A Maton ...? Martin..? The FL3 i tested was great. I don't really know now. Maton EM325 looks better made. Thanks for your help....(I can't test them in my place / Tahiti French Polynesia)

@nikkoja I have a FL1A-12 with that combo, and an FL2A with Spruce top and Maple back & Sides. And I have played all variations in stores. There is no best wood combo, as different combos don't provide 'better' or 'worse' sounds, just different.

I find Blackwood & Rosewood are very simmilar in tone, they are quiet acousticly, but when plugged in provide a lot of bass and what is considered to be 'the best tone' (Blackwood looks amazing!). I would mostly describe the sound as warm.

@nikkoja Maple for the B&S provides a much louder acoustic sound, and have a very bright sound. Personally, my favourite B&S wood is Blackwood.

As for sound board, Spruce or Bunya is the option. Bunya gives a lot of high end 'cut' when plugged in. I haven't really noticed a larged difference between the two. But personally I would ask for 'dirty' Bunya because it looks amazing and will provide a good contrast with the warm sounding BW.

@nikkoja As for guitar model, if you can afford it, I'd go FL2A rather than FL1A, from my experience of playing both models with the same woods. The FL2A gives a fuller sound than the FL1A does. But that said, the FL1A is still an amazing instrument considering it is the cheapest of their models (from $1200 to $1500 for an amplified model). And is a much better buy than a Maton 325 which more $, and has plywood back and sides. All CC instruments are entirely solid timber.

@nikkoja The Maton ECW80 is a brilliant instrument, all solid timber and great sound. The only reson I think CC would be a better choice (Disregaurding what sound you prefer personally and what feels better to play to you), is that a CC guitar is entirely solid, has the best pick up system currently produced in any guitar manufacturer in the world, and is around $500 to $1000 less than the Maton ECW80 depending on woods used.

So basically, when choosing between a CC and a ECW80, the decision needs to come down to which sound you prefer (Plugged in & unplugged - very important to try both ways), which guitar feels better to play, and if spending $500 to $1000 more is worth it if you like the ECW80 better.

Although structually & electronically, the CC is a superior instrument (CC's are hand made, matons factory produced). It has to come down to which one you prefer to play.

@TomoTheGuitarMan / Big thanks. last detail. I prefer no cutaway shape but the FL2 or FL1 i can buy on the net from my place ( impossible to pick up in shop from Tahiti ...price of paradise island) are cutaway. Did you fell a difference?

@nikkoja No, I cannot notice any difference. I prefer the look of non-cutaway FL's but sound wise, I cannot hear any difference :)
