@Feazen LOL! .. On my third playthrough of the game, Miranda doesn't die regardless. Don't be a douche and think you got your "facts straight" just because you've done one playthrough. Miranda has died in one of my three playthroughs; The Renegade one where I don't give her Alliance aid: In the other two she takes off with her sister Oriana. You get to see her again on Earth where you can contact former crew members, including Kasumi, Samara, Jack etc.

I didn't feel the part in the demo when the kid died was sad at all. The Reapers came to kill EVERYTHING(or was that not clear in the prior 2 games?). It was expected for children to die as well(infact I would've said Bioware pansied out like Bethesda did with Skyrim if no kids died).

That having been said....If Joker dies...I will say "fuck getting an army! I'm going back to earth to waste these assholes NOW"

Honestly I felt as though my time was wasted by a cutscene focusing on a single random death among countless....the whole "emotional set piece" thing really only works when it's a character that you have a reason to be upset them dieing ie maybe a character you've gotten attached to over the past 1 or 2 games. But a random kid? It just screams out "Eh. Whatever". Atleast to me.

In my honest opinion, it's a representation of the loss Earth is going through. The human mind simply can't comprehend billions of deaths on such a grand scale, so the death of the child is representative of those deaths. I don't believe it's supposed to overshadow the countless deaths happening. It's simply supposed to humanize, I suppose would be the right word, the death and sadness happening around Sheppard.
