I wrote a performance-art peice called "Bochinche" all about this issue and more. That was, wow, 15 years ago, and it seems the issue still is.

I feel you Fraulein Mariposa, I was born on the island but raised in NJ, and I lived in NYC...got into trouble and ended up in 8 different ny state prisons...other Latinos view us as pacifists(effeminate Cubans), but I have a n all consuming fire of my Boricua indentity...hasta la muerte!
