I work for kroger in the fuel center and the reason it stopped ur pump is because the pumps have limits on them. If you go to a normal kroger fuel station instead of shell and tell them ur pump stopped at shell because of their card limits and u didn't get ur what 10 gallons with ur discount they will give u what ubdidnt get with the discounted price. It happens a lot.
I tried to get 35 gallons of gas for my Mini Cooper at Kroger and they would only let me have 7 gallons. I was very upset at first, but when I realized that they actually gave me more gas for my money than I thought they did, I was very happy again. I was a little worried that I had accidentally ripped off Kroger as I drove off with a full tank of gas, but I figured that they probably ripped me off in the past, so I just drove off.
yes, I got ripped off the same as some others. The cutoff was for 90.00. The attendant said it my credit card but I checked and there isn't any limit so Shell is lying and I guess with Krogers approval. There oughta be something done that would make Kroger/Shell tell the truth.
Had the exact same issue today at a Shell in TN. The owner spoke to me by phone and said that Shell does set a $90 limit at their pumps for a credit card purchase. I explained that I was trying to tak full advantage of my Kroger Plus points discount and was only able to pump approximately 26.6 gallons which came to $90.00. I explained that this was false advertising and he agreed. He said that he does not have any control over the limit, that the limit is set by Shell. cehowardtn@yahoo.com
My debit/credit card has no limit when I purchase or charge for fuel. Every Shell station owner/managers tell me that Shell corp itself sets the cut off amount, not them. At today's prices you can't even buy 25 gallons for $80.
I'd have to agree. There is nothing in the programing of these pumps or the Shell/Kroger program that shuts them off at 25gallons. It is a unique situation since the $80 and 25 gallons happen at almost the same time. However since you were asked to input your zip code when treating your card like a credit card, that is a safety feature usually instituted at places with high credit card fraud. More than likely- your credit card has a limit due to this the idea is to protect you if it gets stolen
I do not believe it is the 25 gallon limit that cut you off I believe it is the credit card limit. Most credit card carriers Mastercard and Visa included will limit the amount of money per transaction. All you have to do is hang up the nozzle and do another transaction (seems pointless) but doesnt help with the kroger situation since again youd have to use another 100 points to get the discount. my reason for believing this is the case is it gave you slightly over 25 gallons but stopped on 80$

I got shut off today at 75.00. Which at 3.59 for diesel did not come close to filling up my truck. What a joke.
