What good is this impotent bitching about MTV? + I approached The Orb with great expectations (Terence Mckenna's recommendation in an interview), but I have to say - except for a few hits it's all mostly boring and pretentious.
I think so. My brother gets that in England. Pure stoner entertainment. Unfortunately for me, its not on in the US. American MTV is everything douche bag related, embodied into a channel.
@LSDCoatedBrain it has since followed in the american footsteps, I used to love mtv dance and chillout, properly good songs on all the time, just a shame that theyve effectively killed mtv and turned it into reality tv shows and other vapid shit.
Those were the days.. I think the version off Ultraworld is their best. Dripping and tripping... This track is up there with Pomme Fritz and Plateau..
@1292liam Good thing I don't waste my time watching it, then!! I've got enough records in my collection (about 50,000) and tons of recording projects of the stuff I LIKE to keep me too busy to just sit around veggin' in front of MTV.
@rss313 and I wish that MTV dies and people just watch what they want to watch on youtube, throw your television right through your window and stop watching TV.. this is the only way to stop MTV from playing bullshit, a wish doesnt help much ^^
@rss313 i wish they had..... remember the party zone? those were the days. why don't they just play MUSIC anymore? forget the money... cribs, hills whatever other bullshit they think is worthy of airtime... noone cares... or at least if they do care, they have forgotten what is real, and that is music...
This is the "Phase II" remix version from the rare "Patterns and Textures" video, released about the time of Ultraworld, and from which most of their videos were taken for play on eMpTV at the time. It was fun, once, being up at 2am stoned out of my gourd, zoning out to AMP. I wish that show were still on...
Is this version of the track available on any CDs or vinyls, perhaps some limited-print EP I don't know about? I like this version much better than the album version :3
I'm pretty sure It's from a concert broadcast by radio1. It features Steve Hillage on guitar and this track I used to play over and over every time I came home from the pub. I had it on cassette and stupidly let someone "borrow" it... Alas I no longer have this recording but would gladly pay to have another copy!!!???
There's a bootleg of the Orb live in 1992 that has a version similar to this (which i've also seen on Ebay), with a stronger beat and some Monty Python samples. And I got the version from this video off Limewire very easily.
that is why "youtube" is fascinating ... it can bring together people with the same "sentimental phenotype" for a moment when they drop a line to each other ... nice
i had the weirdest nightmare a couple of nights ago in which YouTube refused to send my comment with the words Chill Out Zone in it. ''Suspicious content'', or something...
