  • I watched this video... can u donate to me?

  • Error : Bind-able objects must be selected.

  • doesnt work for maya 2012..

  • I just used Paypal to donate!!!

    No, not really.

  • This won't work for me Help!

    ps. I'm using Maya 2012

  • @lolypopboy777 tell me the problem i have 2012 and ive made rigs

  • can you tell me something how did you make the object like a sausage i mean how did you make it di d you use subdivs?

  • hi, its gud... but not complete. can i fold it correctly?

  • Awesome vid simple and helpful

  • before you chose the move tool, if u wanted it to bend to the bottom instead of the way it did, how would u do it?

  • ... I WANT MAYA NOW!!! THATS LOOKS SO MUCH EASIER THEN BLENDER OR 3DS MAX

  • @KiLlA5321 maya and softimage are the top

  • @UltrakupraRebirth Seriously dude, go to a blender basic rigging or 3ds max basic rigging video and its 10 - 30 minutes. yours is 2, + it works.

  • It does not matter, they only smoke or not smoke This video is very beautiful

  • I'm having a bit of a problem. My middle joint doesn't want to bind to the skin, so I don't get the effect shown in the video. Can anyone help me?

  • @Tobestar10 did you make sure to select the parent joint (the one that controls all the others) first, and then hold down shift and select the mesh (arm, in this case) before telling it to bind the skin? they have to both be selected, and the joint has to be selected first, and the mesh second, or it won't work right.

  • you have no idea of how much you have helped me!!!! Thank you very much mate!

  • Hm... My one doesn't bend : ) The whole thing is tilting, but doesn't bend

  • @DragonToko i'm thinking you need to paint the weights... this tells maya which joint controls which vertices.. you can find the weight painting tool under skin - edit smooth skin - paint skin weights tool. don't just click on the name of the tool, though, click on the box beside the name. then a panel will come up with options, and you click the joint you want, and then paint where you want that joint to control.

  • how do you get the error message that says something along the lines of no keyable attributes or animation layers or base animation layer not selected?

  • I dont understand what you mean "MESH" where is the MESH and why when i click on bone joint my joint here different then your software. my screen here just show a tiny line.. help me plz.. im using 2011 maya

  • @aftereffects00 the "mesh" is whatever object you have modeled that you're wanting to rig. i'm thinking the reason all you see is a line where your bones are is because your joint size is too small. you can make it larger by going to display - animation - joint size. if that's not it, than i don't know... i'm not all that familiar with maya 2011 yet, as i only have access to it at school and i use maya 2009 at home.

  • hi. i'm new at doing this skelton stuff in maya, but i wanted to know how to select a single bone, and not all the bones, because when i click on a bone, it selects all the bones. please reply i need your help!

  • @onlycarsracing your grabbing the mother bone. Open up the outliner under the window bar at the top. then find the bone you wanna select in the outliner and you may wanna rename them in there to for future reference

  • All I have to say is 1:46...Ouch!!

  • Thanx a lotttt.....i love it....

  • lol @ comments. Nice tutorial! Short and sweet!

  • Thank you!!! I loved this tutorial, short, simple, straight and easy to understand. You could of slowed down though. Looking forward for your other tuturials

  • fuckk you ur tut totally sucksss..... u dn have sincerioty to teach ...simply say and make it so fast... retards sick son of bitch.............

  • @screwubeachgoddamnu The guy is sharing his knoledge for free man...If your too lazy to pause the video,go back to the part you mised and watch again...then your probably to lazy for almos everything maya and ererything 3D or CG. Or maybe your just a total noob, for wich you should't blame/insult the guy.

  • Please help me, my default maya2010 joints doesnt rotates its childs arround the parent, it just rotates all childs on its own place(just reorients it)

On maya ple the behavior is the correct one as default...

  • fuckk you ur tut totally sucksss..... u dn have sincerioty to teach ...simply say and make it so fast... retards sick son of bitch.............

  • too fast, can't see where you are making changes....

  • how u make joints ?

  • @Suprem3Gamer make sure you're in the animation tab (can be found in the drop-down in the upper left-hand corner) and then go to skeleton - joint tool. then, go to a view other than perspective (top, side, or front) and click where you want your parent joint. every time you click somewhere, it'll add a joint. when you're done, hit enter. then you can go back to perspective view and reposition the joints if necessary.

  • thank you very much... i installed maya 2011 about a week ago and since i,ve never used a program for 3d animation, i couldn't understant anything!!!!!

  • @SamigostheGreat If you've never used a 3D animation program, why'd you start out with Maya?

  • Thankyou thankyou thankyou. You have saved my life. I have been looking everywhere for one simpl videio that gives rigging and bindeing in one easy step then giving me 5 blasted long ones with unessicary rambling inbetween!

  • that was great!!! thanks!!

  • Excellent rigging tutorial. Very simple and easy to understand. A great starting point to more complex rigging. Cheers.

  • Thanks

  • Thanks for this, its just too marvelous...Can u help with a problem. I think i mistakenly locked my character movement control, so whenever i click on the control, it all goes ashe and unmoveable, please reply me if you have any idea on how to unlock it so its all moveable..Cheers!

  • @anthonytwocrown when you click on it, there should be a panel on the right-hand side that lists the translation, rotation, scale, and visibility. if you don't see that panel, click on each of the 3 icons directly below your minimize, restore, and close buttons in the upper right-hand corner, until you find it. whatever isn't working is probably a different color. select those things (not where the number is, but where the name is) and then right click and click on "unlock selected"

  • hey i take lesson, and i remember that you could open an menu to decide how the object was going to deform wen you move it, how do u open that menu?????plyzzz

  • my joints come out looking like a line? can you help me?

  • @monsterdragon13 ME TOO

  • @monsterdragon13 go to display - animation - joint size and increase the number in the little box that comes up.

  • damn buzzzzzz noice but helpful tutorial

  • what is the difference between Maya 3d and blender 3d?

  • @RTard48JRod they are completely different... the way you interact with the program, and where the controls and options are and everything. blender isn't bad... i won't knock it, since i have friends who use it occasionally and say it has good performance, but i gave up on it, due it being quite user unfriendly. Maya is a lot easier to use...

  • Is there any way to change which of the joints that control al the others? Im creating a robot, and the shoulder controls everything, i want to make the hand control it all.. Thanks

  • @InteJohanPalm in your outliner (can be found under "window") there should be "joint" with a number after it somewhere in the list. if you click the + next to it, it will drop down and show the hierarchy of your skeleton. if, say, joint6 is indented below joint7, then joint7 controls joint6. you can select joints and drag them (middle mouse button) around until the hierarchy is how you want it, and the parent joint is the one at the very top.

  • THANKS ALOT!!!!!!

  • Is there a way to create a joint w/out deforming it?

  • Best explanation I've seen on youtube!

    your channel deserve a subscription!

  • wow. thank you. finally someone shows a direct tutorial on an important point.

  • when you said basic you weren't kidding. I needed something a little more in depth. this is a good start for beginners though. Also it's a good idea to complete all your rigging before skinning on more detailed meshes.

  • what's mesh?

  • @um09dndam Considering that red 3d model on the video is formed by lines and vertices, this is called mesh (a mesh of lines). What happens that is the "bones" distort the vertices of the mesh, making the vertices follow the bone.

sorry for my english, i'm brazilian..

  • @supermercadosgg it's ayt, thanks

  • Yeah I didn't see a paypal email on your profile...use the on one the video?

  • Comment removed

  • lets say i have 3 joints, what happens if i smoke them all?

  • @Brocklee7 you rig urself ?! :p

  • @Brocklee7 Then you're probably gonna have a good time.

  • @Brocklee7 Hahahahaha

  • @Brocklee7 Then you are on your way to getting stoned.

  • @Brocklee7 Carl Sagan, is that you?

  • Your tutorials are well explained and great.

  • Thank you so much. I have been trying to figure out Maya. This saved me alot of time and I like how clear the video is.

  • Lmao, looks like a...Never mind. x_x

  • Lets say i've got 4 joints... When I translate joint 3... Joint 4 translate with it, but the skin doesn't deform. Is this normal?

  • @liquidtripper Are u attaching geometry to the joints? Guessing that u are, u need to bind the skin to the joints.

  • on the translation of joints part, yes, it is normal, but on skin deforming, no. there is one thing and that is did u skin it b4 u translate the joint? if it isn't, then go 2 the animation panel somewhere on the top right corner. go 2 skin, bind skin, smooth or rigid.

  • thank u friend, but i need more help on rigging can u help me?

  • if i were u, ill learn about a year or two about rigging coz what ur asking is quite impossible. according to the expert, it takes years to learn rigging. what showed is obviously basic. there are more things about this. thats my adivce 2 u, my friend. i would love 2 help u, but like i said, itll take u more and more days.

  • simple but helpful

  • I'm going to study in the art of 3D animation soon next semester and I thank you for showing me what this program will look like.

  • whats sumthin like this cost?

  • about $3000 but you can crack it for free :D

  • Booyahkasha! Who doesn't have a cracked version of Maya?

  • me, do you have it cracked

  • NIce man! Thanks for this.

Really basic fundamental rigging. Simple as that.

    Very good.

  • Many thanks for the tutorial... I have searched alot on rigging but couldnt find one that explains this simple.

    thanx again.

  • I can try to make rigging tutorials just let me know when you get that credit established! lolz

  • Whereever i clik on the joint tool nothing appears?

  • good video here.

Can you make one in showing how to remove the influence area around the Joint points?

Because in my 3D Modeling class, we were supposed to change the pose of our character and they get really deformed when we do that.

  • thanks for the tutorial.

  • dude you saved me!!! thank you!!! i just started learning rigging in maya. thank you thank you thank you. i would donate 10,000 dollars to you if i had a credit card lol

  • you should consider getting one then,

    my friend :)

  • i'm too young to get one. i'm 13 years old. (you might also be thinking im too young to be interested in maya and stuf) but i am who i am

  • Do I need a program like Photoshop in addition to this one to paint the models so to speak?

  • they have hypershades in maya that u can use to make materials and paint..but photoshop is better if u want 2 make a custom material

  • what function does the F5 button have in this case?

Nothing happens when I press the F5 so I wonder if there is a different way than to press the F5

    Tks for a good video

  • that object looked wrong...

  • can you show us a simple rigging an walking cycle

  • DAMN that's fast... looks like Maya is really simple with bone rigging...

  • no-no-no-no-no, u have no idea the amount of mishaps that can occur in that simple procedure. 3dmacdaddy did a good job in making it seem simple yes, but u can never be too careful in maya

  • Well that's if you don't exactly know what to do or if you don't know how to fix a problem. I've been using Maya alot since my last comment and my knowledge from years ago hasn't quite left me so procedures like these go by quick. I would understand if you refer to rigging a human model or something like that. But it still ends up at the user fully knowing what to do and how to do it...

  • lol my first day in maya and i made a hand rig :P and knock on wood it works awsome and it was 100x EASYER THAN 3ds max. i animate in 3ds and compile stuff for counter strike source. but I learned that maya is more profecional so i got into it now :)

  • anyone help me plzz?

    my moving/rotating/scaling tool are HUGE!

i can't even see the tips of the moving/ scaling tools, and my view is INSIDE the rotating tool! thats the size of the rotating sphere!!!!!!!

before it was normal, but somthing has happend, what can i do?

    THX

  • documents -> maya -> 2008(in mine) -> and delete "prefs"

and it should all go back to normal :)

  • thanks, but i already did that :)

  • hit "-" or "+" to make them big

  • Better than the first. It seems you made it a point to slow down a bit. Nice one!!

  • Your rigging tut is quit useful. Thanks.

  • your tutorials are quite well done, keep it up.

  • what i needed too thanks and did you get your name from fosters home for imaginary friends?

  • how do you let IKsolver know in which direction to move the joint so my elbow doesnt bend all awkward in the wrong direction?

  • You need to set what's called a 'preferred angle'. That is, when you make your joints you will give them a slight bend of just a few degrees so that it knows which way it will go when it solves. : ) Feel free to check out my tutorials, too. I don't have any rigging ones yet but I'll get there.

  • Wow, just what I needed, thanks!

  • i use 3ds max but your tutorials are pretty useful anyway, thanks! used this for rigging arms for CSS

  • I see u are very fast with this tuts. Cheers
