  • I seriously thought he was wearing a GoPro loooooool

  • nice

  • This is very nice!

  • just fantastic, love your style please do a tutorial on this.

  • superb you're stevie wonderful piano playng

  • I just wish it was a better quality, then it would be perfect

  • i dunno if it's just me, but i prefer the sound this 200year old no name piano makes, rather than if it were to be played on a steinway. it has something authentic to it.

and who ever says the jazz chords are out of tune are retards. there are no wrong notes in jazz

  • theres a a.c.jobim

  • Cool, dancing on the knifes edge of "out". He be "dissin" this out big time.

  • a wonderfull jazz-version!!

    wouh!

  • Interesting.

But what's up with that dodgy piano. Your playing deserves better!

  • That piano has years n years of soul under its rusted belt haha :P

  • good song but didnt like the piano. sounds a bit untuned or maybe its jus youtube

  • I didn't like it but THAT'S MY OPINION

  • And you have every right to express it =)

  • I appreciate your seeing my side :-)

  • Well as long as you're not a douche about it like some people would be by saying shit like

"THIS SUCKS DONKEY BALLS AND I HOPE YOUR MOM GETS RAPED!" or some immature shit.

  • I've got an 'opinion' to share with you 2, no-one cares - take your meaningless drivel elsewhere. This is a great jazz performance.

  • Are you addressing that to me?

  • impresionante!!!!!!!!! wau

  • Jeeze it's not even out of tune, Jazz chords are stagnant chords which sound out of tune but they are not.

  • haha- well said. This version is killer. I guess the people used to hearing songs with 4 major chords will just never understand.

  • no disrepect, but the piano is a little out of tune, it doesnt help because he does play a few bad notes in there... the piano itself has a horrible tone to it which doesnt help... i think wonder originally wrote this in c but here its played a tone lower, would have been nice to take it up a minor third to give the tune a brighter feel... listen to monty alexander's version and you'll see what i mean... jazz chords are one thing but it doesnt excuse badly played ones

  • there is no 'wrong' or 'bad' notes in jazz. they are called dissonances haha. He is playing swing style. perhaps it would be better if he plays it bossa nova like the original.

  • @tbsdrummer87

I've heard this my whole life, but such chords never sound out of tune to me. Dissonant maybe, but never out of tune (unless it actually is).

  • excellent.

    he is god.

  • I wonder what god would think of that comment lol

  • excellent pianist but my god why can't you find a tuned piano?!?

  • The whole general idea of a jazz improvisation is to create an enjoyable piece of music with a general foundation of the melody and harmony (this isn't always musically correct but most of the general public isn't as strict on the technicalities of a song.)

  • zeer leerrijk. Nog van dat !!

  • god you have to so much do something with that dreadful sounding piano

  • What was good enough for Herby Miller is good enough for me. Well done mate.

  • i'm guessing that you studied a lot of theory and technique, or else your one of those amazingly gifted folks. Liked the bass, the extentions and alterations, the way you weave the essential parts of the melody into the reharmonizations...but, what I thought could use improving was the lack of rhythmic diversity, use of improvised melodic lines, structural diversity (same old, over and over) and lack of atonal experimentation within a tight rhythmic structure which would hold it all together.

  • I think that he used his improvised melodic lines very well, and yes, the rhythm was sloppy at times, but the whole part of a jazz improvisation is the "looseness" of the overall sound. I believe that a more structured rhythm would have made this sound more classical or "tight", then in an improvisation.

  • Fantastic jazz chords ! You make this simple song sound so colourful !

  • This is musically superb, but the piano sounds quite poor. Could you re-record it on something else, please, and let us enjoy your musicianship properly?

  • great jod man keep going

    youve got talent

  • it's a jazz improvisation idiot...u aint know whats jazz...just close this page...

  • get a yamaha- Your talent deserves it

  • it's a whole tone down from the piano. why?

  • need to put in some swing into the music bro..the voicings are cool though.

  • i think it was great!..nice job there!. =D

  • Yes the piano wants a bit of tuning.. but he does a good job with it..Not much pianist can sound good on a untuned piano.. so I can say ..GOOD JOB !!! ..

  • bella!!!mi trasmette molto, anche il suono old mi piace, bei voicing!

  • TUNE IT!

  • Great improvising and great job playing. However, I would look into having your piano tuned.

  • You guys are being too harsh on him... The voicings are nice, nice rhythmic sense, its a valid interpretation of a classic song. The biggest problem is the recording itself; not the performance. I'd love to hear this

re-recorded with bass / drums, in a room with better acoustics, and more space to position mic's.

  • you're a great pianist but you're killing this song with to much chords. please keep it simple

  • Style...Style my kitten.

  • .. i agree

  • I agree with DinasaurSantos. The title alone 'you are the sunshine of my life' obviously means stevie was talking about finding solace and warmth in someone, and in the original recording, you can almost feel that warmth and solace. However, none of that here. Yes, jazz improv rocks and has the potential to sound awesome, but not on this song. If you were looking for a Stevie song to do jazz improv on, try 'As' or 'Visions'.

  • I love it. Although the original feeling of "you are the sunshine of my life" gets a bit lost. Nice voicings.

    But, man, tune the piano!

  • i hate this. the jazz improvisations are nice, sure, but the playing is cold and uninspired. too metered for jazz, in fact. the dynamics are flat and cold. dead even. more than anything else, i dont feel the warmth and the love that i bet stevie meant for the song when he wrote it. it's just comes off as some arrogant pianist who's showing off.

  • That's hot. It would be perfect if u had a better piano. I loved it, though!

  • Inspiring!

  • Perfect!!!

  • Fantastic! 5 stars! Great chords.

  • I wish I could play like that one day

  • Thanks for posting! You're very talented, and I really enjoyed listening to this piece.

  • you are gorgeous!!!!

    your video is...totally fantastic!! :x:x:x

  • Amazinlgly rich harmonies, Bravo!

  • I love it!! Sweet sound, how much is improvised?

  • We need more like this. Excellent!

  • Sir! All I can say is UNBELIEVABLE!

  • Man, that's good!

    Simion

  • Your chord subs are great! Hope you don't mind if I borrow them! This is an interesting take on a non-jazz standard. Very fresh.
