@ham549 yes you can. melodyne has a "copy pitch" feature. so you could import the little star track, copy the pitch, select the car horn and then paste the little star pitch on it.

yeah you can. u just need to drag the notes to the harmonized notes, then lay down over your original voice. it's quite handy, and the effect usually comes out better than actually record the harmony again. :)

it IS out already. I had it 2 years ago. it was quite good! The music industry already has very similar tools like this. When u hear auto-tune effects like "One More Time" by Daft Punk, the vocal effect can be done with this tool. (Although it may not be how Daft Punk did it, but with this tool it could be done)

In theory this is a great program. But if it is so good at keeping the voice so natural-sounding after pitch correcting it, why did they choose to show off the program on such a heavily treated vocal?l. What producers want to hear is what it sounds like dry, without: reverb, delay, flange etc.

It appears as if they are hiding the aberrations of the pitch corrected sound by deliberately smothering the vocal with all types of crap.

I would like to test-drive it for myself before buying it.

it's an amazing product for real. the only thing that doesn't sound like how it was in the video was extending the time. the timing thing to me is completely screwed up. when you stretch a note it sounds stretched, not natural

they probably were using 192khz samples in the video. So there is more information to stretch. This is amazing and at the same time depressing... Do you think someone like Freddie Mercury relied on this bullshit? Or The Eagles? There will never again be real talent that is cherished... or maybe it is the under-appreciated talent of studio engineers that makes the big paychecks these days. Who am I kidding they still get paid shit compared to the bastard CEOs.

They've been cheating in the studio forever... "True talent" as you described it hasn't really mattered to anyone in the last 30-40 years.

Now it's all about making as good a song as possible, and if you want to flash your skills, you show them off on tour (a true talent like Rob Halford sang Judas Priests early songs just as good on the 30th anniversary tour).

The point of Melodyne isn't really to correct like an auto-tune, and not change the vocals radically. It's more about fixing details.

Software is just a new medium for musicians who want to make music in new ways or don't want to be limited to traditional means. Respect it, cause it's here.

I use Melodyne, and I must say that it's more difficult to use than this video shows. The voice of the Demonstration is perfectly on tune so changing things keep the song sounding real. But If you don't know how to use it properly this program makes your voice sound like a digital voice

well ya in theory you could..it has something called direct note access where you can break individual chords into the notes and show them...but if your talking about running an mp3 straight into it your gonna have to set up different parameters to capture the timbre of say the guitar..as opposed to just the vocal melody..but it can be done..this software blows my mind, and it sounds so much better than autotune..
