For people wondering what to study, I would go with chemical engineering or mechanical engineering. My friends father was a mechanical engineer, and wound up with a Ph.D in biochemistry. Those subjects will also never be outdated, and are the foundations for how everything works. Plus, my uncle earned millions in mechanical engineering, and I don't think he ever had a Ph.D. I've never heard of a bachelors in biology, or chemistry doing that.
I case you are wondering, I have degree in molecular biology. Fun at first, but now it is getting boring to me. Anti-aging is a fun idea, but hardly anyone studies it, and lets face it, the government doesn't want to fund that. Basically, you wind up messing with fly development to publish shit, or chasing cancer and Alzheimers only to hit the red tape of ogvernment once again. At this point, I find more interest in chemistry. At least I find joy in understanding it.
@Polarcupcheck I would implore you to reassess this notion of engineering as the basis for "how everything works." as i say this im not trying to be hostile i just totally disagree. additionally, my opinion is that there is a danger in going into any field of science to make million. the humanitarian implications that come with profit driven science are grave. consider and appreciate the beauty of biology, consider the advancement of science with sleight of hand, take care

wow, he is so clear...nothing like my science teacher(she's clueless, and has a thick accent)...i think i learn more watching this video than in my lab class last week.
Microbiology and Biochemistry are similar yet different at the same time. With microbiology you study the biology of microorganisms, their lifecycles, disease etc, and biochemistry, you tend to focus a lot more on biochemical pathways, their interactions with themselves and with various chemicals.
I got my degree in Micro and now work in a hospital lab. The real question is- if you study Biochem, which is VERY difficult, what are you going to do with it? One of my friends went with Biochem and BURNED OUT, barely passed, then couldn't find work after graduation.
Wow, thanks for the advice, I guess I will go with Micro. Do you mind if I ask you what degree you have and how much you make yearly? Sorry for being nosy, I'm just interested in seeing if it pays off.
Again, I got my degree in Microbiology, then geared all of my electives towards Medical Technology (i.e. hematology, immuno, clinical chem, etc.). I'm just a few years into the field and I'm made $52,000 last year.
I went to school with a guy that did that. He didn't give a rat's ass about med tech, but thought it would help his med school app. He got an internship over others that wanted and deserved it more. He became a worthless tech, not showing up or even caring about his work. I don't know if he ever made it to med school. I hope he's living in a box right now. 8^)

I'm assuming this is an entry level micro class, but I'm glad I got my micro degree where I did, this guy's treating people like they're 5.
