In Benghazi the stripping I saw firsthand was at former criminal prison, consistent with what you say about the security apparatus. It did dismay my host, Ali. Looting of foreign companies who fled -earthmoving machinery & a new university extension(computers, burning the building - not Bengazhi) is also reported by the BBC
This destruction he speaks about was not apparent in Benghazi. Out of all of those I spoke to between Benghazi and Tobruk, I never heard these stories. Not to say that they didn't happen, but I am a bit surprised that I didn't hear of this. Is there any evidence of this looting? Can the source be trusted? Just curious.
