I did this last weekend from Duxford. My first time ever outside a commercial airliner. Quite bumpitty as well but great fun. It's so great seeing the landscape from such a modest altitude.
@trossachs2003 Great aircraft arent they... Ive done this three times now and its been a little 'buffety' each time, but I dont mind, they are such characterful aircraft. Those pair of Gipsy Queens sound fantastic.
@Hanglands What I liked was the real sense of flying. I've watched them take off from the side a number of times and they look slow and weedy but from inside you can feel the power of the engine and a real sense of acceleration and take off. It's a fair blow to the wallet (after the sixteen quid to get in, and the hefty food bill) but I'd love to do the London flight.
@trossachs2003 Yes, once those engines are nicely synchronised it really gives you a very different impression of the aircraft. They also do Tiger Moth and Harvard flights... My wife did the Tiger Moth the other year with them, and I have a Harvard flight booked, though with a different company in August. Yer, Duxford is a bit pricey, but it is the best - hotly followed by Cosford and Hendon, which are both free.
I flew in NG691 with my wife and daughter last Saturday out of Duxford, truly a lovely old airliner. This was my second flight in a Rapide as I flew in the other one G-AKIF during September. I cant wait until the next time I go there for another flight, the best £39.00 I have spent in a long time!
I flew in the Dragon Rapide yesterday....it was fantastic. 8 August - 09. Really sunny, calm, beautiful day. What a great experience and if you get the chance..do it!! Will post my video later 8-)

Thanks for reminding me of my first ever flight. A Rapide from Portsmouth flying club in the mid 1950's as a holiday treat from my parents.

Beautiful aircraft arent they? Bit of a buffety ride on this occasion here, but fun nonetheless. Thanks for watching!

I flew in one of those at Duxford in January this year. Not too bad, but quite bumpy and loud.

Coming up to 40y ago, 1971, since my last Rapide flight.
Did 20odd trips in G-AGTM and G-A?HO over Netheravon, getting out at the top each time!

I flew in this once from Duxford. It was fantastic. Loved it so much I'm now learning to fly myself

Sweet! I'd need to get myself down to Duxford again... I'll just have to settle for my ride in the Ford Tri-motor at Oshkosh last month! ;)

Many thanks Spzatt. Next year I want to go back for an hours ride in their Havard.
But I may be back at Duxford this weekend for their September airshow. If I make it, I'll post a video.
