Thanks everyone for the suggestions I have received. It turns out that when I originally reinstalled the chamshafts and changed the timing chain that I had accidentally switched the camshafts so that the timing was off. Since then I have put everything back together the right way and it is working fine now.

if you have a rough idle. you might not have the right spark plugs
