This album and all of Bruces heaviest and most influential work came out in Heavy Metals darkest of times carrying the Flag into battle as one of Metals purist bloodlines!
Not sure but ive always thought this song might be based on Stephen Kings "The Dark Tower" Series...... WELL worth the read if ya got a few years to spare! 8 books in all!
The first time I put the cd in my stereo, and this song came on, I instantly knew that the whole cd would be amazing. And it is. It's one of my top favorite cds of all times. I wish Bruce had gotten more credit for it though.
I can't agree with more - you nailed it. Right out of the gate with this one, you knew you were listening to something special. Bruce's masterpiece CD in my opinion even though it seemed to fly below the radar for many.
Right stuff yeah right, They were saying that no good artists comes out of England any more but the thing is rock all but died out to be exceeded by Heavy Metal, just as they say the Blues had a baby and they named it Rock 'N' Roll, in the same way Rock had it's child who's name is Metal and there are plenty of new and good Metal bands from Death Metal to doom, but here is a classic Rock track from a classic rock artists see that not pop.
Sometimes I try to imagine my life without this music, can't get that, sometimes I think Bruce has been more important in my life than my own father!!!
This song and fev other songs are obviously inspired by Stephen King. King In Crimson (Crimson King) is character from Kings novels, and Raven too, Raven could be one. And the lyrics also are soooo King styled. The Tower song is also kinda Stephen King styled song.
@hankaligali I heard Stephen King based the Crimson King on the Band King Crimson, aswell as making references to their album In the Court of the Crimson King.
This is my favorite song, I could keep it playing on my ipod on repeat for ever without getting sick of it. I really wish it was on rock-band though, Bruce Dickinson music would be kick-ass on rockband!
sounds fuck all like slayer... just sounds like brue dickinsons band its that simple, they dnt sound like any other band..... ace album by the way............
adrian is on chemical wedding and accident of birth with roy z, unreal. I love Maiden, but this really kicks you in gear along with killing floor(chuckys bride).
yo in da concert adrian smiths guitar is soooo fuckin sexy....isz dat a jackson or a gibson???or is it like a strat.....im more of a jackson fan myself

I can't stop listening to this.
This song and "The Tower" are two of Bruce's best songs ever. What a mighty fucking album.
Do you think, when Bruce is pilotting jumbo jets, he plays his tunes over the PA to the passengers?
We can only hope.

"Tears of the Dragon" is a fucking good song too.
