  • Jon, thanks for help in the past, I've a 5239 and I've fitted new gaskets thru from the filter to the crankcase, but the carb bowl is overfilling and spilling fuel up into the ventura? area and back out into the air filter. Any idea what I need to do to stop this?

  • @tubernua571

you probably need a new needle and seat

  • very interesting old lawnboys. i love all the smoke from that smoky one. maybe i ll collect old ones someday

  • @BNSF9250

    thanks :)

  • you are by far my fav person to watch on youtube plus sweet fucking lawnboy collection

  • @coline65155128

    thanks man :)

  • Thanks Jon you've a great collection there, am dyin to get mine back to work, it started after 5 years out of service but since then it wont restart so am puttin a whole new set of gaskets from the air filter in as far as the crankcase and a new reed and primer set too..... Gotta love the old stuff !

  • Jon I have a '70 5239. I want to clean out the exhaust port, do I need to take the blade off to get the muffler off? And do I just take the muffler cover off and clean everything there or do I need to get the muffler plate off too?

  • @tubernua571

Not familiar with the early 70s model, but yeah you need to take off the blade and the 2 or 3 bolts that hold off the muffler in place. Then the cover should come right off.

Then clean the cover and plate and epecially near the area where the piston is.

  • have you thought about getting a honda push mower those things last long i have a honda harmony 215 its 13 years old and when i moved i did not start it up for over a year and it started up in 3 pulls

  • @landscapeguy239

I did. However the prices are a bit out of my price range. A self-propelled Honda brand is more than $600 + tax here and its pretty heavy to lift up in and out of my car. Also since my mowers run on average 8-10 hours a day, I appreciate the power and durability of a 2-stroke more than a 4. Honda engines are very reliable (my clients Honda powered MTD started in 3 pulls after 2 yrs but don't forget these 20 year old Lawnboys will start in 1-2 pulls if well cared for

  • these mowers are so fucking gay it makes san francisco seem staight!

  • @rubbercoatedsteel

Well you know what...They're pretty good fucking good machines to start this quickly despite their old age, Mr. USP marksman. You just can't grasp the fact that you don't even know what a good mower is. I will tell you know these mowers are used daily and they OUTLAST the flimsy newer mowers. I already have a last years model that's showing problems already It's this simple...don't like the mowers, don't watch it let alone post an ignorant comment.

  • Wow now it looks like that cold starts the lawnboys of 2011 is geting close.

  • Did you ever get the 1987 Lawnboy 8242ae runing.

  • @Corvette1658

yes I did. It now has a recoil problem, I'm getting it fixed in the spring

  • Im glad to see there's someone as enthusiastic about these as me. I just love them! Turn up the wick a bit and they cut better than any mower out there. The sound, the smell, just so well built. The hardware they used on OMC LB's is quality. BTW, I didnt think they made F engined LB's especially with that shroud like the 10401C after '98?

  • @APontiacof455cubes

that's what I thought to,until I saw my 10401C with the 2000 model year serial number. Unfortunately that was the last year of them :(

  • @Jon3800 or is it a V series??? it does look exactly like an F tho. So 2000 was the last year of the Gold Pro's with the F engine?

  • @APontiacof455cubes

The V series lasted from 1993-1997 (4.5, then 4.75hp versions),until it was replaced by the Duraforce "E" engine from 1998 - 2004 (the end of 2-strokes on mowers). I have the V-series 10201. They share the F components as most LB engines do, but the V is a lot louder.

2000 was the last year of the Gold Pro's with the F motor. After that they were used the 6.5 Duraforce, then it was powered by Honda from '05-07 then they dropped the Gold/Silver series line

  • @APontiacof455cubes

Nope all the 10401C models were Fs. V's were gone by 97. They weren't the greatest engines. Fs were a lot better.

  • @Jon3800 is a re-jetted Duraforce just as good as an F? I feel like F's really are the best. Dad had a '81 LB that was never really maintained at all. Ran like a horse for 20 years.

  • @APontiacof455cubes

they should be good as Fs. Major problems with the dura are their constant surging, but cant complain, they put more HP than my F.

    6.5 hp 21'' on my 10323 vs my 5.0 19''deck on my 10401C

  • @Jon3800 but if you just turn the throttle up on an F or even a D series, they cut better than my 6hp briggs Toro recycler! I think the staggered deck has something to do with it as well.

  • @APontiacof455cubes

the duraforce can also turn the throttle up, they also have the staggered deck

  • There's alot of little differences between Canadian and US lawnboys. Black primers vs wheat colored, the 5 spoke wheels, choke on the handle, the one F engined mower that had the primer on the carb box. I had an '84 8270 (identical to the 8243) but parted it out for my '79 7268. My 7268 is identical to your 5277 except mines a 21" and has the normal triangle LB wheels.

  • That sucks you couldn't 8243ae running. I would double check and make sure you're getting spark. I'll do a video on how to set the correct gap between the coil and flywheel magnets.

  • that'd be sweet if you did. I might try on the old coil and see if it will fire

  • Still seems an odd idea to put two-stroke engines in a lawn mower.. :o)

  • ya, they don't put them anymore because they pollute, but they're the best ones in terms of power

  • good video i like these videos

  • i have a question howcome u need so many lawnmowers mabey u just need like 2 or 3 but searsoly hocome so much. and great vid 5 stars

  • its my lawncare business, I have workers helping me with the business

  • when that tecumseh engine dies you should replace it with a briggs 6hp engine

  • If it does, it might get a honda engine. I'm not a fan of Briggs

  • @Jon3800 good choice jon honda negines are good get the ohc engine

  • on the 4630 why is the primer on the handle? does it suck fuel through the fuel line?

  • it is the way they were designed, and it does suck through the fuel line

  • nooo jon!!! you collect tarantulas that is cool that is the shit got soo much respect for that. but what you cant collect lawnmowers!!!! its just no right.

  • its my lawncare business

  • ya, she has a bad bearing :(

  • Awesome!

  • thanks man :)

  • Ok..Now you make people like us who collect T's look normal.. Xp

  • lol :)

  • wow how many do you have? :D

  • I run a small lawncare business, so I got 15 of them :D
