I haven't gotten enough of Selena, man she's my idol. And no other famous singer is going to replace her as my idol. I love Selena ALOT and I miss her dearly<3 I listen to her music EVERYDAY. I also sing to her music. I wish she was alive. :(

Her Spanish is quite EXCELLENT. I do wonder about some of the accuracy of events in the orginal movie portraying her personal life. All I know is that her genuine personality and connection to her fans was so deep.

well, selena is the greatest singer of all time! i mean, there are so many artists out there who take singing lessons to become good but selena was a natural performer. never took lessons of any kind, especially not singing lessons. that's why she's considered the greatest in my opinion. i went to many of her concerts and believe me...she rocked the house out!

Do you think all great singers out here took singing lessons? If you do you'll be surprised. Some people are self taught. I taught myself for the longest time and still do. But just cause a singer alone doesnt take lessons doesnt make them great. Theres more to it. Go see what else is out there. She's not the greatest singer of all time, IMO but she was amazing!
What s second Kaveincar, whom do you consider to be the greatest? Most singers btw take lessons or they lip sync, Selena sang in two languages, could dance while singing, a tough chore, broke down racial barriers, and don't forget, she NEVER came close to her peak, that was snuffed out, I'd venture to say I've been around a little longer than you and I've seen and heard the so called best, no one beats Selena as a singer/entertainer, she had the whole package.
Well, mstrunn you must not have been around long enough if you think no one beats Selena. You dont know me so dont. She is great but not all singers take singing lesson and still have amazing voices. When you work with big American record companies at some point they will push you to take lessons even if you don't need it but that doesn't mean you grew up with singing lessons. Look, Im Afro-African and great singers are a dime a dozen so like I said I can't say she was the greatest, sorry!
Good singers are a dime dozen but not great singer/entertainers, if you don't take lessons you don't improve and can't stay with the comp, unless you're gifted, which Selena was. I agree with you that great singer/entertainers are rare. Selena wasn't the greatest entertainer to me either but she was good. You can still improve and stay with the comp w/o lessons. I agree, I LOVE Selena but I don't think she's THE best singer in the world, she did have that special "thing" about her that's for sure, she did have a beautiful voice, but she wasn't the only singer that had a pretty voice. IMO I think that Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli have the voice of God in them, I feel that if God could sing He put a litte of Himself into them, they have phenomenal voices, same with Karen Carpenter, it is a person's opinion, that's mine, just like yours.

well, selena is the greatest singer of all time! i mean, there are so many artists out there who take singing lessons to become good but selena was a natural performer. never took lessons of any kind, especially not singing lessons. that's why she's considered the greatest in my opinion. i went to many of her concerts and believe me...she rocked the house out!

Do you think all great singers out here took singing lessons? If you do you'll be surprised. Some people are self taught. I taught myself for the longest time and still do. But just cause a singer alone doesnt take lessons doesnt make them great. Theres more to it. Go see what else is out there. She's not the greatest singer of all time, IMO but she was amazing!

What s second Kaveincar, whom do you consider to be the greatest? Most singers btw take lessons or they lip sync, Selena sang in two languages, could dance while singing, a tough chore, broke down racial barriers, and don't forget, she NEVER came close to her peak, that was snuffed out, I'd venture to say I've been around a little longer than you and I've seen and heard the so called best, no one beats Selena as a singer/entertainer, she had the whole package.

Well, mstrunn you must not have been around long enough if you think no one beats Selena. You dont know me so dont. She is great but not all singers take singing lesson and still have amazing voices. When you work with big American record companies at some point they will push you to take lessons even if you don't need it but that doesn't mean you grew up with singing lessons. Look, Im Afro-African and great singers are a dime a dozen so like I said I can't say she was the greatest, sorry!

Good singers are a dime dozen but not great singer/entertainers, if you don't take lessons you don't improve and can't stay with the comp, unless you're gifted, which Selena was. You have your opinion and I asked you who you thought WAS the greatest. Once again, Selena was only 23, and i have been around long enough and have been in the music business, do I have a right to my opinion? Thank you!

I agree with you that great singer/entertainers are rare. Selena wasn't the greatest entertainer to me either but she was good. You can still improve and stay with the comp w/o lessons. You can self-teach like Selena did. Idk who the greatest is. Im debating that still. You made a statement like it was fact not opinion. Yes, you are entitled to your opinion. I agree, I LOVE Selena but I don't think she's THE best singer in the world, she did have that special "thing" about her that's for sure, she did have a beautiful voice, but she wasn't the only singer that had a pretty voice. IMO I think that Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli have the voice of God in them, I feel that if God could sing He put a litte of Himself into them, they have phenomenal voices, same with Karen Carpenter, it is a person's opinion, that's mine, just like yours.

Idk about that but people have their own opinion. Oh yes, Judy Garland, Liza, and Karen were gifts from God IMO. There are many . Pavorotti has a beautiful voice, but I'm more on Andrea Bocelli. Aretha Franklin? I can't see that, but it's their opinion, I think that because Selena is gone people don't want anything bad said about her, which I agree, but that doesn't mean she was the perfect singer, and I love the woman to death. Just because she's gone doesn't mean she was perfect. She was just human with a pretty voice, but I wouldn't put her next to Judy or Liza either.

I somewhat agree w/u! I think there's a few singers out there that can really sing. They have a strong n beautiful voice. SELENA had a powerful n incredible voice but at the begining her voice wasn't as good as it was by the time of her death (w/all due respect), still her star will ALWAYS shine!!! Not only cause of her music skills but of the person that she WAS... RIP & We luv u n shall never forget u SELENA!!!

I agree 100% with mstrunn, there are other singers out there, that are very good. but none are down to earth, none can sing all types of music like selena, not all of them care about the community, cause there is some that do. and never said no to an autograph, unlike the artists of today. that is what makes her the greatest singer of all time, not just because of her voice.

To the person who commented about Selena not being well known in the English world, I still think that even though Americans didn't understand the words in her Hispanic music, they still loved her beautiful voice. My favorite song by Selena is Comor A Flor (I hope I spelled it right) and I don't even understand a word she's saying in the song.

I love Selena but I can't say she was the greatest singer of all time. Thats quite a title to give to someone but she was the greatest Tejano singer of all time probably. I don't know alot about Mexican music and i dont know who is considered to be the greatest singers of all time in Hispanic music. I know and love Celia Cruz, La India, Willie Colon, Jose Feliciano, Marc Anthony and I dont know it they are considered to be greatest. Help me out folks!
