It's amazing that people of history didn't care enough about their "mounds of dirt" enough to see them prserved for future generations. Tara is a 'site' with no buildings to be shaken by road rumble. The motorway does go very close and has interfered with pagan sites - but they would never have been discovered without it. It dies not destroy Tara itself, there is nothing really there to destroy except low hills with overgrown mounds and ditches. Though I agree that the law allows heritage destruction. Who knows if that is not Church using 'Mammon' against ancient pagan heritage?

As a resident of Skryne I find this to be a dramatization - I am so lucky to live in such a culture rich area but I'm over 4 miles from the actual monuments and the new road is around 3miles from it. What is the point in us sitting around with such bad roads locally and a few bits of pottery under the ground - which i might add there was much excavations and the archaeoligists were VERY rude to the locals minding their own business.

Firstly, personal abuse is not an argument. Secondly, a "decent" transport infrastructure does not entail placing four expensive and ill-planned motorways through a historical landscape. Rather it involves an integrated road and rail system. Thirdly, its proximity to the hill has and will continue to irrevocably destroy a delicate and ancient landscape.
