I am an Alumni I've always wonder if USC though film preservation I've always found that very fascinating. It's one thing to make a film but to preserve is a whole different thing. I know UCLA offers classes on film preservation from working with nitrate film negatives to cleaning them and restoring the films.

Am I allowed to study and work there with a Visa, because I'm from Germany. I allready looked on an internetpage for USA Visa but i haven't found anything like "Visa for Study and work. " I Love this school an I could imagine to Study there and maybe to work in one of the many studios. It would be very nice, if anyone could help me.

@TheSuperAvocado i dont even think u need a visa... just in case your wondering, I am a Canadian with a Visa living in the US and I am eligible for this school.

Look on the international students site for USC - it gives info about the two types of VISAs needed. I think you very much WOULD need a VISA (Canada is a different case). Your best bet is to read all the info on the INternational student pages on the USC site, and maybe email or call them for more information.

I believe that I am a pretty good film maker but still have room to grow. So my question is why usc and not ucla or ny film academy?

I am 15 and I plan to write, direct, and produce films in my future. USC seems like the best option for college. There are several things that intimidate me about film school and the industry itself. A question of mine would be: Is the learning environment at USC more like professors giving you cameras and having you figure everything out and learn as you go or is the curriculum very thorough in teaching you how to do anything and giving you all skills as a filmmaker?

@MNIF123 Hi, I'm in the graduate film production program at USC, and it's great that you're just 15 and you already know that you wanna come to this school. I was 19 when I figured out that film was my life, and I applied to USC film three times before I finally got in. To answer your question, it's a little bit of both. The curriculum is designed to challenge all of the students to become proficient in every aspect of filmmaking (writing, producing, directing, editing, sound design, etc.)...

@MNIF123 They teach us everything from the ground up. Obviously, some people have more experience than others. I have classmates who worked on major films, and others who've never made a film before in their lives. So don't be intimidated. They're looking for a diverse group of people who show great potential in telling great stories... plain and simple. Good luck!
