It can be accessed off of forest road 1206 west of North Mills River. My preferred method is to reach it via Laurel Ridge Trail. That's an amazing climb. You can also go up Slate Cove Trail, but that requires an insane Hike-a-bike up Good Enough Gap. There's also a way to reach it from the Pisgah Inn, but I've only been that way a few times, and can't remember the names. Or you can go to the Pilot Rock/Cove trailhead on 1206 and then just go up and come straight down, but I don't recommend.
I love the run.. the hike up sucks... XC'rs piss and moan all the way up and down. I just tell them to learn to ride a bike... good trail and good fotage!
At least XC'rs aren't horses pooping all over the damn trail. Try to ride in DuPont lately? Its a poop slalom course, which is fun but the open wounds on my legs don't think so.
I like this video, a bit hard to see at times, but hey its a helmet cam. Definatly am now psyched about that trail again, thanks!
I totally agree! I got ripped open for my video of ridgeline about spooking a horse taking a crap on a bind corner. Poop patties everywhere.. I might start duecing on the horse trails :)
I've gone up sycamore cove and onto the ridge and ridden to the pink beds, via the black mountain trail, good stuff. Be back up there soon, I hope.

One of the best technical downhills in Pisgah. Doing the rocky switchbacks in the rain will make your butt pucker. :)

Where is the trail? Reminds me a little of the down hill on Trace Ridge Trail in North Mills River. How do you get the trail head for this run?
