I believe the pens broke 2001-2003. All Mutant hybrid hacthery fish. Cool they caught it... Congrates...BUT, it should not be included into the record books...If so... Lets raise monster triploid browns, salmon, bass etc, then release them into a lake and catch them.... We will all be in the record books!!!

@TallFlyGuy but, if you remember correctly, the previous world record rainbow trout (the alaskan steelhead, not the 43 pounder caught by the same guys in this video) was also a triploid, yet because it was wild, nobody questioned it.

@TallFlyGuy actually, it had significant damage to its pituitary gland, artificially making it unable to spawn, and there for expending all of its energy into growth. whatever you want to call it, it was essentially a triploid. and if you feel like calling bullshit on this, feel free to pick up Mike Rivkin's book Big: The 50 Greatest World Record Catches, and he will tell you the same damn thing.

Everone else is just not truly understanding that we need those old ones to give their genes to the younger and produce more beautiful and freely breed fish instead over stocking lakes and rivers.
