whitehall isnt all that big of an area but its a populated and pretty busy area just north of the city of allentown ( lotsa people and cars ) theres plenty of firefighters around to
@firtog U still shouldn't used mixed terminology. Our dispatchers are trained in both, but thats mainly bc alot of the older police officers revert back to them
@firtog U still shouldn't used mixed terminology. Our dispatchers are trained in both, but thats mainly bc alot of the older police officers revert back to them. BTW, u guys are awesome.
Love your Videos, but I work Police calls in West Whiteland Township and I had a Car just like that Upside down, and they call my towing company and No fire Dept, myself and another ALS firend of mine pulled the guy out of the car then pulled the car out and Over, I'm not saying this Video is Over Kill, my point is, in PA the police would rather have fire trained tow truck drivers then haveing to fill out all that papper work.
@ 5130, I've heard rumors of that. I was a fireman till 9/11 then I went to the Marine Corps. After I got out I started a tow company in Nashville (i was AAA before FD) . Anyway, I heard of small towns along the 80 through Kansas and Wyoming equipped tow trucks with rescue gear and used them as incident responders as most of the tow drivers are also the Volunteer fireman. I was going to look into it a little more, maybe relocate, but fuel prices put me under, lost all 7 trucks.
one of the best ever USA emergency service vids, without rediculas camera angles or foolish-dramatic bahaviour, rare and very inspiring video-account good job to the camera operator and Pro folk
bigger towns are generally paid. but the Galena, the area I live around, We have a Vol fire personal. They do a great job and save numerous lives, around U.S. highway 20
I remember one time when me and my father made a snow run. My father was in a officer car and a small 2 door saw him coming, tried to stop and slid right into the crown vic. They were lucky they didnt hit the truck i was in.
ok thanks for your help, thats pretty good for volunteer, how come you guys arent full time? Riverview has about 20,000 people and they are full time, 4 guys on a shift times 4 shift for 16 full time firefighters and about 28 volunteer.
Well, whitehall has 5 stations. 36,37,38,39, and 40. So the 24,000 people are divided up between those stations. Plus, I think that being volunteer gives us more money to be able to get new appartus and gear, ext. And, we already have great response times.
o ok that makes since, Riverview only has one station, 2 pumps,1 rescue, 1 spare pump and brush truck. Yeah it frees up a lot of money when its volunteer, but we have top of the line gear also.
Just want to comment on the driver and the orders given to the on truck crew as you were responding to the scene. AWESOME! This video was a fine example of emergency response in bad weather as well as the preplanned tasks of your personnel, BEFORE arriving on scene of the incident, GREAT JOB !
Actually Captive, we do not have the right of way, even with lights and siren on. We need to be given the right of way. That being said, if someone does not yield, we can have them ticketed for failure to yield.
Oh, and most of those intersections with stop lights had Opticoms on them.
I admire the Whitehall fire department, but you guys, especially those from Fullerton (Station 36) need to stop at stop signs and red lights. In this video alone, you ran 3 uncontrolled intersections and a couple of red lights. We as first responders (Fire EMS Police) do NOT have the right away at red lights and stop signs, even with lights and sirens going. Baltimore city has an issue because it looks like one of their trucks ran a red light and killed 3 civilians.
I don't see a problem with their driving. Every stop sign they run, or red light they go through, is a visible intersection where they can see that traffic is stopped.
Oh and by the way, fire, EMS, and police do have the right of way everywhere.
Awesome video! Great response and on-scene footage. Oh, and I agree that your Q does sound great. Did the driver of the vehicle that went down the embankment make it?
Wow what do you know a couple well placed pd units! haha

Shut down the road because someone slides off the side a little?
Looks minor.
Anyone even hurt?
Couldn't open other doors to let the person out?
Please tell about your helmet cam!

Whitehall has about 24,000 residents. Everyone, except the chief, is volunteer.

ok thanks a lot for your help. How many runs do you guys do per day? per year?
quispamsisst2 4 years ago
I'm not on this Dept. yet, but station 36 ran 574 calls last year. So that would average out to about 2 calls a day.
