  • Yes I think it's great - the poem it's based on is all about shivering in the ice and snow, teeth chattering, the biting wind and this performannce is exciting with much clarity and brilliant violin playing. Perhaps the reason the orchestra isn't featured on film is due to costs, but it doesn't matter - the idea of building to 4 violinists on this magnificent staircase from different shots is very visually creative and Madeleine Mitchell is very 'easy on the eye'. Love the way video starts too.

  • the interpretation makes the 'Winter' sounds scary 

  • Director has made some odd choices of shots - direct-to-camera - nearly invisible backup ensemble, a player's view of the fingerboard action (but good for working out some fingerings).
