I'd gladly look at any poll that you were able to point to. Presumably you've seen a poll that says the public option is opposed by a majority of the country. I haven't. Six or seven polls have come out just in the past two weeks that all show a majority support in favor of the public option. It has never been otherwise. My point isn't that we should govern by polls or even that the public option is a good thing... I just want someone around here to back up their claims with some real stats.

I can't see how any president could get away without raising taxes now and have a functioning country. Yes, you have to pay your part and the burgeoning upper class has had it's way for a long time. Taxes are lower than they were 40 years ago and hopefully can be lowered again, but only after we have this country back on track.
Ronald Reagan was the beginning of the end for the American middle class. Once he was in office, the greed is good crowd felt legitimized, the air traffic control workers lost their jobs, General Motors found they didn't have to obey the law and pay the fines for not increasing fleet mileage(too bad in the long run), We lost all direction on alternative energy (and hence our lead in innovation), We payed for the monetary war with russia up till Clinton got the economy under control again.

Obama doesnt have to 'cram a health care bill' down anyone's throat. The majority of the American people, in poll after poll, have expressed their support for a public option. At the end of his first year in office, Obama's job approval (57%) ties Ronald Reagan and beats Clinton( 49%). Curiously he meets or beats the two Presidents who won reelection as he trails Carter (62%) and George HW Bush (68%) who were defeated for reelection.

I can't see how any president could get away without raising taxes now and have a functioning country. Yes, you have to pay your part and the burgeoning upper class has had it's way for a long time. Taxes are lower than they were 40 years ago and hopefully can be lowered again, but only after we have this country back on track.

Once he was in office, the greed is good crowd felt legitimized, the air traffic control workers lost their jobs, General Motors found they didn't have to obey the law and pay the fines for not increasing fleet mileage(too bad in the long run), We lost all direction on alternative energy (and hence our lead in innovation), We payed for the monetary war with russia up till Clinton got the economy under control again.

I do however support Obama strongly and want health care reform to become a reality, just after this is done I'm hoping that the angry rally's will begin to die down and I can go to the TV or pick up a copy of the post without seeing controversy.
