Awesome looking car, most likely frikkin' fast too, but the 919 is not a super sport bike, so what's the point in making a comparison? Pick an R1, ZX-10R or Gixxer1000. Those bikes won't stop accelerating before 180mph.

Love the 919's; 40-50 MPG, classic naked styling, and cheap to repair if something goes wrong. The 919 was never built to be a speed king or track burner, though it does have the punch to get off the line whenever the rider needs it.
The best thing about the 919's is the fact that there is such a consistent torque / HP curve. It doesn't matter what RPM you are at, because you'll get an equal amount of power as desired. Honda really tuned the engine to be an excellent all-round performer.
nice video.. but you need to pick on a better bike... get a modern 600cc ss bike... and go at it... he might embarrass you a little bit....
Not bashing... still takes alot to keep up with any bike.. but that 919 is not very aerodynamic and only produces about 100hp and weighs 428 lbs... vs a aerodynamic 07 R6 (599cc) that produces 132 hp and weighs 358 lbs.

its not really fair doing a roll on the car has the advantage but in a 1/4 mile that bike will do a 11.17 and i would think that car might do a 12.00 at best with that set up

Alright these cars are awesome but once something goes out its like a chain reaction something else goes bad but idk it just might be my crazy z32 lol. So im just letting you know that they are really good cars untill something goes out Plus the parts are not cheap at all well some are but most are out the sky and unless you like to get greasy then its the perfect car for you but if you dont like mechanics then I suggest dont buy it. But its up to you bud :)
i honestly couldn't have explained it better myself about the details of owning a z. if you don't mind wrenching then it's not to bad plus if you can work on a z, you can work on just about anything. definately don't own one if you plan on paying people to do work on it.

the n/a 300zx are good cars stock with 222hp still pretty fast but i just wish i could make it a lil lighter. I wanna get a good cold air intake I got a good asian guy as a michanic and i was talking to him about what we can do to tune it up better and he said he knows my car really good but it seems like he holds back in wanting to do anything with it.
well depends on what N/A Z you have, but sometimes they make a good base for a tt swap. especially if you have the slicktop....it's the lightest model. but even if you have a 2 seater, 5 spd. car you could still make it a tt. i just wouldn't spend the money to try to make the N/A motor fast, you'll spend far to much money and not get the performance numbers you are wanting.....hope this helps.

okay not a problem smart ass. i'll put mickey thompson et streets on. i now have lower gears in the rear end. full underdrive pulley set. and this time i'll boost 22lbs and put race gas in and take base timing to 18 BTDC and pull a 11.8 in the quarter at 3500ft elevation. not so sure that the bike can do that :( since the 919 pulls 11.8 with pro rider at sea elevation.
Very nice 300zx bro. I'm planning on buying one within the next year or so and doing a turbo swap with either HKS or Injen. Theres too many hondas and wanna-be's around here lol and im working on a 1968 pontiac firebird right now with an LS-1 gto engine.
depends on were you live. and if you plan on driving it year around. they do make horrible winter cars, they don't do well in the snow/ice. other than that i have no issues driving my car on a daily basis. i put an average of 9,000 miles on it every year. plus on the weekends you can road coarse it, autocross it, and drag race it. not to mention just cruising around and lookin sexy. just make sure you keep up on maintanence...the car is almost 20 years old. hope this helps :)

Yeah you are pretty spot on with your timmes on the 919. My 919 when it was stock would only pull a 11.4 and thats if i had good traction and kept the front wheel on the ground. Now I have 900rr header, catless Y pipe, Two Brothers single can, PC3, airbox mod, Vortex -1 +3 sprockets and 520 chain conversion and its been dyno tuned. Now I can pull 9.8 on a good day if I have the suspension straps on and get good traction. Love your Z man its a beast!
That was also with swingarm extensions and a rider that was only 160 lbs and I forgot to mention the heads been ported and polished. With me on it at 190 lbs and without extensions it runs around 10.3ish. Also the guy bthat only weighs 160lbs used to race professionally so a little advantage.
@sonazty Honestly I don't see it, If the bike can do that good against you at 100mph I'd think it should kill you off the line. it passes the 1/4 at 120-128, I think you would have to much ground to make up.
I have a 919, I can tell you. Great tourqe all the way threw the power range, Awesome accel but not great top end.
No not really, the 919 isn't a race bike, and the op speed on it is a lot less than on your car. I would love for you to try and race a Hayabusa...that would be an amazing defeat.
Of course the 300ZX is going to beat the 919 at that speed. The engine is huge compared to the bike. Off the line the 919 is going to beat the 300ZX anyday and will beat it up till about 100mph.
so then by your logic.....my car should be able to beat a 1300cc hayabusa.....after all my motor is still bigger lol, god some of you people suprise me. i do agree that off the line the bike would get me...on stock tires, but with slicks and full boost and race gas, would be a close outcome.
The 919 is a mild bike. I have one and find it a pleasant bike to ride. It is impressive that the 300ZX is able to beat the 919, but look at all the tinkering that had to be done to the car to get it to do that, while the 919 is mostly stock. If the 919 had been tinkered on to the same level it would probably beat the 300ZX. Great video. Cool bike, and cool car. Two thumbs up!
thanks for the props on the car, but as far as tinkering on the car goes, it's all bolt ons. still stock turbo's, stock heads, and stock block. so pretty much all i did was open up the exhaust and intake to let it breathe a little better and tuned it accordingly, pretty much the same thing that the bike did. :)
i absolutely agree! the car is a pig. i weighted it with a 1/4 tank of gas, i have full sound system, including sub, amps, roll cage, and dynamat throughout the interior, it weighed in at 3800lbs :(

nope no dyno numbers, sorry. a while back i took it to the dyno and pushed 345rwhp and 360 rwtq. but that was on 14 lbs of boost, with intake, full exhaust, upgraded side mount intercoolers, and jwt ecu. now i have that plus nismo 555cc injectors, boost controllers, leader gears (4.10) underdrive pulley's, different tune, and i can go to 18 lbs on pump gas, not sure what that numbers are now.
if you got 345rwhp thats about what my current TTZ runs atm

with the injectiors and leader gears i dont know if you will increase in much power, running that much boost on a stock Z engine without a rebuilt/strengthened top end is dangerous but i reackon you could be seeing near 400rwhp if you did crank it up :)
400rwhp is not a problem with stock block/stock heads, there are plenty of people with z's that are running in the high fours to low fives on stock z motors, greg from specialty z has pushed stock block z's to low 600rwhp, not stock turbos but stock block/head combo. compression on my motor is perfect and motor runs strong. it'll take 18lbs no problem, just not for long periods of time:)
you obviously don't know much about the 300zx twin turbo. i would definately not do better from a dig. the car does exceptionally better from a roll cause it's already getting the turbos going and as you can hear from the video the car is a five spd. not an automatic so no launching under boost.
Yeah, i have a 919 and i wanted to see a race from a different speed than 70-75. With the mods your buddy has on his from a stop he would leave you pretty good until 110-120 then the bike loses out aerodynamically but strong pull you have with that z, fast car! A 40 roll would have been good too, you would have still caught up after triple digits. Naked bikes aren't good in the wind, you wouldn't fare as well against a 1000 sportbike, but your Z has some grunt for sure, sweet
why don't we just start out from a dig and give the 919 every advantage. or let me start out at 120. the point of the race was to start from freeway speeds. the guy knows how to ride trust me he's my buddy. wouldn't do any good now cause the z's even faster
got news for you man, it definately takes more than 2 to 3 seconds to hit 110mph from 50mph on a honda 919. trust me i got it on vid also. plus i've ridden the bike, and yes i know how to ride, i used to own a cbr 600rr
your high, 600cc bullit bikes don't even pull the front end off the ground from 50mph to 110mph unless the rider is trying to do a wheely, and don't try to say that new 600cc bullet bikes aren't faster than a 919, i've ridden both, 600cc gsxr will do a low to mid ten quarter mile time, while a 919 is sitting at a mid to high eleven.

Alright these cars are awesome but once something goes out its like a chain reaction something else goes bad but idk it just might be my crazy z32 lol. So im just letting you know that they are really good cars untill something goes out Plus the parts are not cheap at all well some are but most are out the sky and unless you like to get greasy then its the perfect car for you but if you dont like mechanics then I suggest dont buy it. But its up to you bud :)

i honestly couldn't have explained it better myself about the details of owning a z. if you don't mind wrenching then it's not to bad plus if you can work on a z, you can work on just about anything. definately don't own one if you plan on paying people to do work on it.

You lost becuase you raced him from an expressway roll and he beat you up to his top speed. OF COURSE your going to pull away after that. His bike was never designed to go that fast. Uuummm yea....You had two turbos and a assload of money in that 300 vs what? an sub 10k bike with light mods. (Adding a powercommander does not increase the mechnical redline of an engine) Bike wins! I'd like to see you rerace him after you put your car back to stock..

the n/a 300zx are good cars stock with 222hp still pretty fast but i just wish i could make it a lil lighter. I wanna get a good cold air intake I got a good asian guy as a michanic and i was talking to him about what we can do to tune it up better and he said he knows my car really good but it seems like he holds back in wanting to do anything with it.

well depends on what N/A Z you have, but sometimes they make a good base for a tt swap. especially if you have the slicktop....it's the lightest model. but even if you have a 2 seater, 5 spd. car you could still make it a tt. i just wouldn't spend the money to try to make the N/A motor fast, you'll spend far to much money and not get the performance numbers you are wanting.....hope this helps.

okay not a problem smart ass. i'll put mickey thompson et streets on. i now have lower gears in the rear end. full underdrive pulley set. and this time i'll boost 22lbs and put race gas in and take base timing to 18 BTDC and pull a 11.8 in the quarter at 3500ft elevation. not so sure that the bike can do that :( since the 919 pulls 11.8 with pro rider at sea elevation.

depends on were you live. and if you plan on driving it year around. they do make horrible winter cars, they don't do well in the snow/ice. other than that i have no issues driving my car on a daily basis. i put an average of 9,000 miles on it every year. plus on the weekends you can road coarse it, autocross it, and drag race it. not to mention just cruising around and lookin sexy. just make sure you keep up on maintanence...the car is almost 20 years old. hope this helps :)

Yeah you are pretty spot on with your timmes on the 919. My 919 when it was stock would only pull a 11.4 and thats if i had good traction and kept the front wheel on the ground. Now I have 900rr header, catless Y pipe, Two Brothers single can, PC3, airbox mod, Vortex -1 +3 sprockets and 520 chain conversion and its been dyno tuned. Now I can pull 9.8 on a good day if I have the suspension straps on and get good traction. Love your Z man its a beast!

That was also with swingarm extensions and a rider that was only 160 lbs and I forgot to mention the heads been ported and polished. With me on it at 190 lbs and without extensions it runs around 10.3ish. Also the guy bthat only weighs 160lbs used to race professionally so a little advantage.

@sonazty Honestly I don't see it, If the bike can do that good against you at 100mph I'd think it should kill you off the line. it passes the 1/4 at 120-128, I think you would have to much ground to make up.
I have a 919, I can tell you. Great tourqe all the way threw the power range, Awesome accel but not great top end.

Of course the 300ZX is going to beat the 919 at that speed. The engine is huge compared to the bike. Off the line the 919 is going to beat the 300ZX anyday and will beat it up till about 100mph.

The 919 is a mild bike. I have one and find it a pleasant bike to ride. It is impressive that the 300ZX is able to beat the 919, but look at all the tinkering that had to be done to the car to get it to do that, while the 919 is mostly stock. If the 919 had been tinkered on to the same level it would probably beat the 300ZX. Great video. Cool bike, and cool car. Two thumbs up!

thanks for the props on the car, but as far as tinkering on the car goes, it's all bolt ons. still stock turbo's, stock heads, and stock block. so pretty much all i did was open up the exhaust and intake to let it breathe a little better and tuned it accordingly, pretty much the same thing that the bike did. :)

The only down side to the 300z was it's weight. The motor sadly does find a better home in something like the 260z.

i absolutely agree! the car is a pig. i weighted it with a 1/4 tank of gas, i have full sound system, including sub, amps, roll cage, and dynamat throughout the interior, it weighed in at 3800lbs :(

nope no dyno numbers, sorry. a while back i took it to the dyno and pushed 345rwhp and 360 rwtq. but that was on 14 lbs of boost, with intake, full exhaust, upgraded side mount intercoolers, and jwt ecu. now i have that plus nismo 555cc injectors, boost controllers, leader gears (4.10) underdrive pulley's, different tune, and i can go to 18 lbs on pump gas, not sure what that numbers are now.

Spitfire coilpacks, light weight flywheel
with the injectiors and leader gears i dont know if you will increase in much power, running that much boost on a stock Z engine without a rebuilt/strengthened top end is dangerous but i reackon you could be seeing near 400rwhp if you did crank it up :)

400rwhp is not a problem with stock block/stock heads, there are plenty of people with z's that are running in the high fours to low fives on stock z motors, greg from specialty z has pushed stock block z's to low 600rwhp, not stock turbos but stock block/head combo. compression on my motor is perfect and motor runs strong. it'll take 18lbs no problem, just not for long periods of time:)

you obviously don't know much about the 300zx twin turbo. i would definately not do better from a dig. the car does exceptionally better from a roll cause it's already getting the turbos going and as you can hear from the video the car is a five spd. not an automatic so no launching under boost.

Yeah, i have a 919 and i wanted to see a race from a different speed than 70-75. With the mods your buddy has on his from a stop he would leave you pretty good until 110-120 then the bike loses out aerodynamically but strong pull you have with that z, fast car! A 40 roll would have been good too, you would have still caught up after triple digits. Naked bikes aren't good in the wind, you wouldn't fare as well against a 1000 sportbike, but your Z has some grunt for sure, sweet

your high, 600cc bullit bikes don't even pull the front end off the ground from 50mph to 110mph unless the rider is trying to do a wheely, and don't try to say that new 600cc bullet bikes aren't faster than a 919, i've ridden both, 600cc gsxr will do a low to mid ten quarter mile time, while a 919 is sitting at a mid to high eleven.
