LGLG is to clear the system log. It has nothing to do with active apps/processes. Any memory cleaner will also clear that log at fixed intervals, same with a restart (shift + alt + del).

If you can't get this to work on a storm, use a convinience key to open the virtual keyboard in Screen/Keyborad menu in options. Then after pressing the button, press !?123 and then " and / . And repeat the same process again. Make sure you press the !?123 button twice, If u can't understand, reply to this comment!

First of all Alt + lglg doesn't kill applications, it delete the log of the activities on your phone, like delete cookies on your browser, it may go a little faster but not 10x, this can be done as well by a hard reset, just open the back of your bb, take the battery out for 5 secs, reload the battery, it's more effective to refresh the phone.

nice video man but your not closing the applications running in the background. what your seeing in that log is everything you did on your blackberry every message you've sent every app website you opened, when you hold ALT and press back i shows you your running applications.
