If Michigan and Florida supers are seated with full voting powers, Obama with then have 2090.5 delegates in the bag, just 40.25 (super) delegates short of the new magic number.
If Michigan and Florida supers are seated with half voting powers, that would put Obama even closer: just 39 (super) delegates from triumph.
You can't looks at wins in current elections to see who can better beat mccain. There's a lot of campaigning to do before the general election.
and this is essentially terry saying, "look, we know hillary is your second choice, but she has a better chance of winning" (of someone in second place)
Winning isn't everything...it's the only thing. I could give a shit if it was Mickey Mouse. If he had the best chance to beat McCain then that's who I'd be for. Get a clue dipshit.
I'm waiting to see Edwards show up on my TV some night at like 2am telling me about an exciting real estate opportunity in Florida, or telling me how "even I can beat hair loss!"
God, he is so full of shit! I can't believe it. Now he's saying that Clinton's ahead in the popular vote.......if you count FL & MI (where Obama wasn't on the ballot) and don't count the caucases. So, basically, by Clinton-McAuliffe rules, they count the votes they like, and don't count the ones they don't like.
It seems like for the last month every day after Obama gets his ass kicked in yet another contest he drags out some supposed "BIG DEAL ENDORSEMENT"...and then the next contest comes and he gets his ass kicked again. WHat the hell?
It's about winning in the fall and Obama can't win in the fall. He got beat in OH IN PA WV NH NM. Tell me you how Obama wins in the fall without those states? Answer: He doesn't...and we're shit out of luck again because we let our emotions get in the way of good decision making.
Nonsense. Clinton has very little appeal for independent voters, and none for moderate Republicans. Obama has shown that independents like him, and moderate Reps who are disgusted with Bush are willing to give him a hearing. Clinton, especially with all her negatives (& she's got lots), would end up getting slightly less votes than Kerry did. She's purely a Dem machine candidate. Voters may vote with their emotions, but superdelegates vote tactically. Both chose Obama. Good thing for the Dems.
Which Hillary are you talking about? The Dem party queen showing up for her coronation? Wait, that didn't work. Maybe the 'experienced' DC insider? That didn't work either. How about the teary-eyed woman-as-victim? That worked for a second or two. How about Hillary as bullet-dodging combat-zone veteran? Nope, no one bought it. How about the most absurd one yet: Hillary as blue-collar mama? Guess that didn't work either. What's next? It'd be good for her if it's Hillary as facer of reality.
Nope I'm talking about the Hillary who is the only Democrat who can win the general election. You can say what ever stupid shit you want to say about her but the fact is she is a better candidate for the general election than Obama is. Do yourself a favor and try out one of the electoral college simulators and tell me how Obama wins. Good luck you'll need it.
Given Bill, Whitewater, her shady cattle futures deals, Vince Foster, Bill's sleazy last-minute pardons (brokered by Hill's brothers), and truckloads more baggage, Hillary is clearly the only Dem who could LOSE this general election. WE may not care about any of that stuff, and Obama hasn't brought it up during the primaries, but there are LOADS of voters who LOATHE the Clintons because of all that. The Reps would hammer away at it, these voters would come out in droves, and she would lose.
OK now it's official you are the dipshit of all dipshits. All this stuff you mention is such crap, all old, and despite it all Clinton cruised in '96, she cruised to victories in NY, carrying upstate which is republican territory....in this cycle she's won all the crucial swing states except NV (and that's a caucus state, I'd like to have seen what would've happened if it was a primary), and you're still trotting this stuff out as if it's relevant. You are a true moron.
Please note that I said that while WE might not care about that old stuff, there are plenty of people out there who do. People who vote in Dem primaries don't care about that stuff, but Reps and Independents do. There's a HUGE difference between primary voters and the general electorate. It doesn't matter anyway. This was Hillary's race to lose, and she lost it. And it's bad form to stoop to name-calling just because you have no argument.
Tell me, when Obama wins the nomination, after the bad blood cools, Democrats will either sit on their hands, or vote McSame? Not likely. We vote pocketbook, and issues. Obama still represents those issues. He'll carry the same Democratic water as Hill...
McAuliffe is right. Let all the voters vote. Then let the Super Delegates take a look at the results, and then let them make their decision on who the nominee should be. Those are the rules. That's a lot of pressure on the Super delegates to make the right choice but hey, they signed up for it. I wouldn't be envious of any one of them if they pick the wrong candidate, because everyone knows who they are.
Tim is in the tank for Obama, just like Chris Matthews. Hillary has a right to stay in as long as she wants. For once the Republicans CANNOT be BLAMED for what the Democrats are doing to themselves. Since they can't blame the Republicans for this, they think they can stop the infighting if they can just get Hill to drop out.
But poll after poll shows that most Democrat voters WANT her to stay in. They think it's good for the party.
WV means nothing. They are a bunch of inbreds most of whom suffer from the effects of infant exposure to alcohol...you can't expect people to vote correctly in a state like that.
You're arguing over two really sweet 3 pointers that were nothing but net...while the rest of America is pointing at the scoreboard with Obama leading 97-71 with five seconds left...
Hillary had a great win last night. Congrats! However there's no rational, realistic, mathematical path to the nomination for her. She'd have to get 90% of all remaining delegates to get close. It's too little, too late...
It's not too little too late if the super-delegates get their heads out of their butts and make a decision based on who has a better chance to win in the fall. That's all I'm saying. This Obama thing is gonna go down in flames, and we'll be stuck on another Election Night in November wondering what happened, why did we lose etc...
The thing you're missing is his ability to cross party lines & carry Rep states. Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, Louisiana, N. Carolina, S. Carolina, Georgia, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, N. Dakota, S. Dakota, Virginia, etc. Once he's the nominee, this bad blood will cool & hopefully Clinton supporters such as yourself will decide if you sit on your hands, which is a vote for McSame(3rd Bush term), or if you vote your pocket book & the issues 4 Obama. I trust you. Tx 4 being more civil
There is absolutely no chance for Obama to win MO, SC, NC, ND, SD, or NE. IA and WS are a lock for either Obama or Clinton. NV and VA I'd list as toss-ups. Also, Obama has no chance in PA, NH, WV, OH, IN or FL. That spells doom for the democrats. Of course I'll vote for Obama, but I fear it'll be a vote wasted and we'll be out of business for another 4 years.
What are you basing your metrics on? I'm looking at the raw numbers from AP-IPSO, Polling Point, and CNN of Democratic voters in those states vs registered Republican voters in those states. You see more Reps, former Reps, & independents(besides dems) breaking for Obama. That can not be said about Hillary. She's far too polarizing...
Don't take my word for it. Look at the numbers, read any blog/newspaper/polling site. They all say the same things...
I'm basing my metrics on the every presidential election since 1984. Remember 1988 when it looked like Dukakis was going to cruise, and he got beat by George Bush. These polls aren't trustworthy. They've been wrong all campaign. This is still the same country as it was in '84, '88, '00, and '04. Obama hasn't single handedly transformed the electorate. I give him credit for being a skillful politician, but he isn't that good. His policies are too liberal for the general election.
My friend, in not taking into account TODAY'S America after 8 years of one of the worst presidents in modern history is a massive mistake. We've changed drastically. She represents the "old way". He represent the "new". He's not a politician. He's a leader, a statesman. He's not "playing a game" for power with one of the most pivotal elections in America's history. She is. She's solely a politician. People see it. She wants power. He wants a new direction for ALL Americans. BIG difference!
This is where your naivete shows. Obama is 100% Grade A politician. If he wasn't why did he all of a sudden start wearing a flag pin? Because he knows he has to if he wants to win. He doesn't want to, doesn't like it, but he does it anyway because he's a politician. THat's what they do. We'll see how much America has changed come election night. I think your going to be shocked at how little has changed. It's unfortunate but true. Humphreymcgoverncartermondaledukakisgorekerryobama.
He wears it, if, & when he wants too. That's been true through out. Two days from now he'll be without without one. It's not based on politics, it's personal preference. He doesn't get caught up in that silly crap. That's what sets him apart. He's far from perfect. He makes mistakes, admitting this often. In fact, his candidacy is based on it. He accepts reality, & avoids playing politics. Comparing today, with 72, 80, 04 or any other date is silly. America's changed & won't take it anymore...
The official arbiter of the Democratic Party, Tim Russert, sounds like he's in the bag for Obama, and McAuliffe calls him on it, and Russert can only go "uh uh uh...I ask the questions here..." SCREW RUSSERT, HE's LOST ALL MY RESPECT.
OK now you've proved how little you know about presidential elections. You cite ID AK and UT as if any democrat has a chance of winning those states. Take a look at the last 2 elections and see how the vote came in in those states. The only Democrats in those states are the ultra-liberal loony lefties who make up the vast majority of Obama's "white vote". And guess what, thank god but there aren't enough of those egg-heads to make a difference in the electoral politics of the this country.
SO tell me dipshit....how is Obama gonna win the general election. List all the states he's gonna win. If you list more than ten you are a the epitome of a political neophyte.
Terry is factoring a zero for obama from michigan where he wasn't on the ballot. without that result obama is over .7 million votes ahead. If hillary wins 75 percent of the vote from now on, and they count migigan and florida as is, she wil still have to win around 78 percent of the superdelegate votes.
there just arent enough chips left on the table. obama has picked up around 27 superdelegates since nc. West virinia has 28.
Oh my God McAuliffe crushed Russert in the debate. Russert was like "uh uh uh...I'll ask the questions here"....screw you Russert you are supposed to be a journalist not a cheerleader!
Kennedy...Carter and Clinton won WV and won the election.
Humphrey- McGovern- Carter in '80- Gore and Kerry lost WV and lost the election.
Why is this year going to be any different. You Obama morons are in for a harsh reality on Election night in November if you think the Democrats can lose WV and win the Election.
You know that shit that built up around the rim of your toilet back in your college apartment because you never cleaned your bathroom? That's what Russert is.
LOL - look how crazy obamania gets when they get called out. Similar to their candidate all talk. I agree they probably didn't even vote. Just caught up in the fad of being for Obama
Your are morons if you think Obama can win the General. He is toast in November and thanks to all you Obamacans we'll have Republicans in the White House for another 4 years.
What does McAuliffe say when his kid's loosing a soccer game with under a minute left?
"Billy, you're not loosing 9-2. They just scored more goals than you, out hustled you, out played you, & won. But nobody cares about THAT! It all comes down to some white parents who really like to watch you play. Also that ref screwed you out of 3 goals even though you cheated to get em, so let's just add those onto the final score. Final score 9-5. We WIN!"
You are an idiot. McAuliffe crushed Russert in this interview, because he is speaking the truth. When are you morons going to wake up and realize that Obama CAN'T WIN THE GENERAL ELECTION! THAT'S WHAT THIS IS ALL ABOUT DIPSHIT.
According to CNN, 62% of American's say Obama has a better chance of winning the general election in November, while only 26% say HRC. Your logic is hillbilly. She'll have a great win tonight, but with 7 contests left there's no rational, realistic, mathematical path to the nomination for her.
You're obviously frustrated, & I'm sorry for that. But until you understand the mathematics in this primary, or the reality of the voting public, kindly shut the fuck up & go sit in the corner...
An elitist jdiddy402? I'm a working road comic. My father was an electrician for IBEW local 134. You couldn't be more wrong if you said, "Christ had three dicks!"
Sorry stereotypes couldn't save you time like in the rest of your life, but you're totally wrong...
Listen asshole. I never said it shouldn't count. Of course their votes should count. The reality is WV is not a necessary state for victory. If Obama is an elitist than what is Hillary? She is worth 100 million and she's a fucking Senator and former First Lady. I know you think she's an average joe but she's not. You people are just like the republicans who think Bush is somehow some kind of regular guy you can have a beer with.
Well considering there's almost 100 years of history that says a democrat can't win the White House without WV I'd say your statement that WV "is not a necessary state" is the height of stupidity.
Oh please. WV? Just because they haven't won, without also taking WV at the same, does not mean it is necessary. It just means that the democrat lost WV at the same time they lost the general. Victory is dependant on California, Florida, New York, Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania. WV is not crucial for a victory.
Your the one who needs a dose of reality. What the fuck is your explanation gonna be on election night in November when Obama's gotten his ass kicked you stupid shit. I've seen this movie before and it's called MONDALEDUKAKISCARTERMCGOVERN you dumbass.
No one can predict the future; especially not your fucking dumbass. Obama could win, he could lose. One thing is clear: HILLARY ISN'T GOING TO BE THE NOMINEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHE IS GOING TO LOSE THE DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY!!!!!! Was that clear enough you fucking idiot? All you Hillary people need to stop acting like fucking little babies and support Obama. Unless you want the republicans to keep the White House.
I've been voting since 2000 and I've voted in every election since. People who don't vote don't care or know about these issues we're talking about; they don't have opinions cause they're too lazy to form any.
Since we seem to be making assumptions, based on things we have absolutely no idea about, I'm going to assume you're just a republican supporting Hillary because you think she's easier to beat in November.
Idiot - more of the country looks like WV than SF. You probably can't see down that far from your soapbox. Either way it means with Wright, Ayers, Cocaine, Rezko, Present, missed votes, bitter and no record that Obama will lose worse than Dukakis. Do you want me to fire up the tank? I'm certain republicans already have willie horton ready to go.
You're the one talking about not supporting Obama if he's the nominee. I think dems should vote for Hillary or Obama. It would be very stupid to vote for McCain or against Obama in the general election. If you want things to really change you have to vote for the dem, no matter who they are. God you're fucking retarded.
If they steal this election from Hillary I'm going to vote for McCain. How do you trust someone who is willing justy overlook 3 million people in order to win?
Would superdelegates be so afraid to vote against "the will of people" if Obama wasn't black? Would the party allow for Florida to be disenfranchised if Obama had won? Ferraro was right!
He should have played a more public role in the campaign. He is very good on camera and as this video shows he dominates the host. I've never seen Russert unable to speak.
Terry McAuliffe is THE MAN! He had Russert going "uh uh uh...I ask the questions here..." Russert and the rest of the MSM is so in the tank for Obama and McAuliffe called him out!
I love how you Hillary supporters call Obama an elitist, while at the same time pretending that Hillary is some kind of salt of the earth woman who just happens to worth millions and millions of dollars, graduated from Welsley, was First Lady, now a Senator. She's an elitist. But you know what? I want the really smart people running the country; we all should. So stop throwing that word around like it's a bad thing. If you're against elitists though I guess you must be for the dumb fucks.
Why won't Obama wear a flag pin? How moronic is that? How hard is it to suck it up and wear the flag of your own country? Is he too good for the American flag?
I have to admit that Terry McAullife was the greatest Chairman in the history of the DNC...a true hero. He led us like Moses across the bridge to the 21st Century.
As a proud American, and fighter for the middle class, I have to say, that despite my support, and despite my man-crush, for my hero Barack, when I put all emotion aside, and look in the mirror, and ask myself in a cold calculating way, who has a better chance of winning in November, I have to admit it's Hillary. Sorry Barry.
It is such a divine PLEASURE to watch Hitlery Rotten ClinTURD slide into the toilet so grudgingly!!! She's hanging to the sides of the toilet as her FAT ANKLES dangle over the pot! hahaha!!! Such a sight it is! She truly is a piece of work!!! What a COW!!!!!!! All her campaign managers are afraid to tell her..."WoMAN...the FAT Lady has sung! They don't WANT you!!! They ALL think your out of your living NUT!!!!"
STAY TUNED!!!! We are about to witness the UNDOING of an egotistical WITCH!
Several court certified graphologists analyzed the signatures of the presidential contenders. McCain and Obama have something in common signature-wise -- illegibility, which suggests a need for privacy or an aversion to transparency.
Clinton's signature is readable and straight-forward. The simplicity shows intellect and forcefulness. The style is very controlled. The I's are dotted and the T's are crossed. "She can see both sides and would be good at sorting out conflicts."
I'm from Florida. Obviously my state is important in this election right? Why aren't democrats figured out a way for my vote to count twice in the primary - rather than not at all.

Obama's only gotten his "ass kicked" (meaning Clinton beat him by 20%+) in WV, AR, and OK.
Clinton's gotten her "ass kicked" (meaning Obama beat her by 20%+) in WA, ID, WY, CO, KS, NE, ND, MN, IL, MS, LA, GA, SC, VA, MD, VT, & AK.
That, among other reasons, is why he's ahead in pledged delegates, the popular vote, and superdelegates. It's why he's the presumptive nominee.
If it's not about the numbers, then what's it about? Wishful thinking? Bitterness? Being a sore loser?

CarriageHouse12 3 years ago
OK now you've proved how little you know about presidential elections. You cite ID AK and UT as if any democrat has a chance of winning those states. Take a look at the last 2 elections and see how the vote came in in those states. The only Democrats in those states are the ultra-liberal loony lefties who make up the vast majority of Obama's "white vote". And guess what, thank god but there aren't enough of those egg-heads to make a difference in the electoral politics of the this country.

Hillary wins WV
geteven12 3 years ago
Terry is factoring a zero for obama from michigan where he wasn't on the ballot. without that result obama is over .7 million votes ahead. If hillary wins 75 percent of the vote from now on, and they count migigan and florida as is, she wil still have to win around 78 percent of the superdelegate votes.
there just arent enough chips left on the table. obama has picked up around 27 superdelegates since nc. West virinia has 28.
oregon is heavy obama.
the math is fuzzy.

We WIN!"
Bolgernow 3 years ago
You are an idiot. McAuliffe crushed Russert in this interview, because he is speaking the truth. When are you morons going to wake up and realize that Obama CAN'T WIN THE GENERAL ELECTION! THAT'S WHAT THIS IS ALL ABOUT DIPSHIT.
LBJRANCH 3 years ago
According to CNN, 62% of American's say Obama has a better chance of winning the general election in November, while only 26% say HRC. Your logic is hillbilly. She'll have a great win tonight, but with 7 contests left there's no rational, realistic, mathematical path to the nomination for her.
You're obviously frustrated, & I'm sorry for that. But until you understand the mathematics in this primary, or the reality of the voting public, kindly shut the fuck up & go sit in the corner...
Bolgernow 3 years ago

olivemike81 3 years ago
You are an elitist and so is Obama and so is Michelle Obama. So what WV shouldn't count? Really? Why?
LBJRANCH 3 years ago
Listen asshole. I never said it shouldn't count. Of course their votes should count. The reality is WV is not a necessary state for victory. If Obama is an elitist than what is Hillary? She is worth 100 million and she's a fucking Senator and former First Lady. I know you think she's an average joe but she's not. You people are just like the republicans who think Bush is somehow some kind of regular guy you can have a beer with.
olivemike81 3 years ago
Well considering there's almost 100 years of history that says a democrat can't win the White House without WV I'd say your statement that WV "is not a necessary state" is the height of stupidity.
CarriageHouse12 3 years ago

ck20084u 3 years ago
Hillary's win in tonight will prove why she should be the nominee....No Democrat since 1916 has won without winning WV.
LBJRANCH 3 years ago
Oh please. WV? Just because they haven't won, without also taking WV at the same, does not mean it is necessary. It just means that the democrat lost WV at the same time they lost the general. Victory is dependant on California, Florida, New York, Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania. WV is not crucial for a victory.

LBJRANCH 3 years ago
No one can predict the future; especially not your fucking dumbass. Obama could win, he could lose. One thing is clear: HILLARY ISN'T GOING TO BE THE NOMINEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHE IS GOING TO LOSE THE DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY!!!!!! Was that clear enough you fucking idiot? All you Hillary people need to stop acting like fucking little babies and support Obama. Unless you want the republicans to keep the White House.
olivemike81 3 years ago
You probably didn't even vote.
jumpinandrew 3 years ago
I've been voting since 2000 and I've voted in every election since. People who don't vote don't care or know about these issues we're talking about; they don't have opinions cause they're too lazy to form any.
Since we seem to be making assumptions, based on things we have absolutely no idea about, I'm going to assume you're just a republican supporting Hillary because you think she's easier to beat in November.
Maybe your the one who didn't vote
olivemike81 3 years ago
You probably voted for Nader and cost us that election too you slug.
LBJRANCH 3 years ago
Idiot - more of the country looks like WV than SF. You probably can't see down that far from your soapbox. Either way it means with Wright, Ayers, Cocaine, Rezko, Present, missed votes, bitter and no record that Obama will lose worse than Dukakis. Do you want me to fire up the tank? I'm certain republicans already have willie horton ready to go.
jdiddy402 3 years ago
You dumb shit. Morons like you are gonna cost the democrats the election. You probably voted for Nader in the last election you moron.
LBJRANCH 3 years ago
You're the one talking about not supporting Obama if he's the nominee. I think dems should vote for Hillary or Obama. It would be very stupid to vote for McCain or against Obama in the general election. If you want things to really change you have to vote for the dem, no matter who they are.
