  • And that's why I play Alex after 10 years of using Ryu/Dudley.

    Alex is more my style: He has a lot of options, is fun to play, and has a comeback factor. In my mind, he is Seth from SF4

  • Why do people do hugo's clap so much? Is it hard to parry? Is it plus? Easy to hitconfirm? Anything I'm missing?

  • @TheUpstreamer It's a great special move:

    - Easy to confirm into more claps or SA3 (I believe you can do Fierce clap --> Strong clap --> Light clap --> SA3 for crazy damage)

    - Frame advantage on block, very safe

    - Very high priority, can trade or outright beat stuff like wake up uppercut.

    - You can vary the strength of the clap so it's ambiguous whether it will connect or not. Whiff clap --> 360 vs. connected clap + more claps, backbreaker (if they're airborne), etc. Scary mixup.

    To add a little more to what arindam43 has already pointed out:

    Even if someone does parry the clap, in most cases, it's not safe to punish immediately since clap can be easily canceled into Hammer Mountain, or if it's canceled into Gigas and you parry the clap, you eat the Gigas. What this means is that you can use lp clap and even if it's parried, there's a good chance you won't be punished. If they block, it's chip damage and puts pressure.

    Also, if they block the clap, you have lots of follow-up options such as meat squasher, crouching mk, another clap, dash up 360, step forward and do lk and clap again (if they are afraid that you'll do a throw after the lk, they will jump and get hit by clap, in which case you can combo with various moves), etc.

    If it connects, you can do the stuff arindam43 mentioned.

    Just another quick note: you can only do HP Clap --> MP Clap --> LP --> Clap --> SA3 if the opponent is crouching or, for some characters, if they are stunned.
