all lcd do that if you look at it from that angles you need to do some research mate befor you make your self look like a thick tweet like you just did
The purple tint could be due to the proximity of those big speakers. It affects the TV's degausser and can cause a purple or green tint to part, or all, of the screen. Try moving the speakers further away from the TV.
the 42" are LG/Sharp panels, while the 46" and up are Samsung panels. I got a look at the 545, the newest model, in 42" and it exhibited this same behavior except much, much worse. The screen was pretty much unwatchable at anything greater than 5 degrees off-axis. By comparison, the Sony base model (the S model, 42") sitting next to it exhibited no washing out even at nearly 90 degrees.
Ive known people who had messed up colour on tv's and its usually because of using game systems (e.g. Xbox. Wii etc) - of course some people will say they dont damage the TV but in my experience there is definately a link.
dude...are you serious...LCDs have certian viewing angles....I have the 46inch Toshiba and if does the same thing...its just the nature of LCD's....if you have a LCD on your computer look at that at a angle....if may not show the same bluish color...but it will have darker effect....
I have the exact same TV and I think its the best you can get for the price. I wouldnt mind the purple tint from an angle since no one watches a 42" TV from the side or from the top.
yeah it is normal, I've been looking at various LCD's over the while and they seem to excibit the same condition. though usually not as bad as this TV. It's not bad at all if you are off axis at direct eye level, but it you are up looking down at it it can be pretty bad when there is black on the screen. also the brighter the viewing room is the less noticable it's going to be
return that crap thats why you have a 30day return policiy hustle the dame store until your happy, i did it 2 times until i was happy with my 3rd tv first 2 tvs was lcd the 3rd was plasma plasma was better for me. but i never had purple tint on any of the 2 lcds
You've gotta really nice one , also I've gotta two ,but it seemed to be more bigger size for instance 47inch would be better.

haha, you do know that only CRT's suffer from what you are reffering to. Lcd's and Plasma arent affected by magnets

I bought the 40" Regza and it has the same problem. It comes and goes. I get the blue tint and when there is red, I get red tint.
I have many LCD's and this is the problem child of the bunch. The Regza sucks.
This TV lasted 3 months. I'll go with Samsung. All my other LCD's are Samsung and the picture is razer sharp.
Cost of the LCD means nothing. Even the best have their junk.

LCDs are known for poor viewing angles. Best pic is straight center. Plasmas do no thave this issue, although they may suffer from Burned In Images.

What a moron. YOU BOUGHT AN LCD. Learn to read why LCD sucks compared to plasma if you're not viewing it straight on, n00b!

Have you calibrated your TV? TVs aren't very good until they're calibrated...
