I am a black woman who heard these two guys one day on television. The sound of Elvis's voi ce combined with Burt's piano just blew my mind. I thought I was back in the 60's or 70's. I listened to the whole show and immediately went out to buy the cd as well as the video of the televised concert. "Painted From Memory is a most beautiful collection of songs and one that even my children even treasure.
@elena2426 sorry but... so what that you are black? no offence intended by any means, but i don't live in USA and i don't know what black people were supposed to be listening to in the 60s/70s.
Ever since I was a kid Bacharach's music has always hit me right in the gut.An amazing romantic writing melodies that come out of innocent places that defy analysis. The first time at age 11 when I heard "...you see this guy...this guy's in love with you.." being done by Herb Albert,I knew I couldn't wait to grow up and fall in love. What an awesome and inspiring spirit he is.A beautiful catalog of compositions.A true legacy for the world.
This is unbelievable! The day after I got your message, an ex-girlfriend contacted me to say she had found my Painted From Memory CD. I GET IT BACK NEXT WEEK. SHE'S HAD IT FOR TWO YEARS, OR MORE. It looks like I'll be listening to it a lot on my own too. Take care. Stay in touch.
@SiriosIX That is bizarre in a good way. I'm glad you got it back. I always sing those songs to warm up my voice. I wish I could form a band in my city in the UK that would want to do music like this but alas...This album defines how melancholy can be beautiful, and subtle
I'm in the Uk too. London in fact. So you are a singer. Great. Have you listened to Causteau by chance. The singer Liam has a voice like Scott Walker. Check out (Damn) These Hungry Times and let me know what you think mate.
I would love to listen to an album with just the ending of many Bacharach songs,
Raindrops, I Might Frigten Her Away (as in the 1974 album Living Together), Close To You album simply titled Burt Bacharach, from 1971) and sooo many more.
elvis can do it all!

This the album that helped get me through my "unfaithful wife's" exodus, which left me as a single parent with
5 children .
It s funny how music can do that
I remember Bacharach and Dionne Warwick in the sixties.
Good music, and now ,There is only "One more Bell to answer"
