Clever. Imus is a cynic, a satirist, a provocateur and smart . I fail to see how Imus' comments are more racially charged than those of Rev. Al (Sharpton) or Jesse Jackson. Sharpton calling whites as ' Crackers' or Jackson referring to NYC as 'Hymietown'. CBS called this wrong - it was knee jerk PC. Bill Maher's hetero slant on same sex body fluid exchanges would have sent him to the gallows if CBS brass had their way. As they say - the fish stinks from the head down - take a shower Sumner!

Freedom of speech? You must be joking. The government is not infringing on Imus's freedom of speech. He's free to say whatever he wants. CBS has the freedom to choose to broadcast it or not. After all, it's thier network. If another radio station or network wants to hire Imus, he's available. Nobody's freedom of speech is being violated here.

That's an interesting interpretation. It's important to remember that Imus's contract gives CBS the right to dismiss him whenever they feel like it. So he knows if he says one thing that they really don't like, he's off the air. And it's not like they censored him. THAT would be spitting in the face of freedom.

I didn't find this Osama bit in good taste either. But Mel Brooks once said, "If I can make Hitler look ridiculous, he can't win." It's the same concept.
