when i first played this game i didnt know how to get to LV7 but found LV8 and its very possible to beat LV8 before LV7 without the mirror shield and getting the item from LV 8 kills the LV7 boss with 2 hits.

It's used for the Flying Rooster and opening the 8th dungeon. After that it's worthless.

The BEST thing about level 7 is getting to those unused/test rooms. In the original version (because you can't perform the screen skip glitch in the DX version), I would ALWAYS use that glitch to reach those weird rooms that are otherwise impossible to reach. Oh the nostalgia!

From memory, you don't need the Fire Rod to actually get to the top of Turtle Rock, and thus the Warp. I shall test this next playthrough.

Can't you just skip the flamethrower by using the Cucco to fly past it? I swear I did that last playthrough. Sure, it only skips Level 7...but it's easy enough to wander through L8 until you get to the mountain warp anyhow.

I'm not sure if that'd work. The Rooster vanishes after you beat Level 7, though, so you'd have to get the wand.

Though yeah, you could probably avoid it.
