that's just a regular s281...supercharged ones have 350 hp to 365 hp depending on year (in the new edges). my buddy has a 2000 and it came with 350 hp the later ones were like 365 I do beieve...not sure but neither are stock anyways. yes it's blown but it's a 2v 4.6...compared to a 5.7 ls1 with mods...
i would hope a super charged Saleen could take a z28 with litle to no mods i might be wrong and if so plz say so but dont they have like 500hp???? and the z28 has a ls1 stock is like 320 hp???? ish
@blunts4dayzzz I think the 99-04 Saleen model Sn95/new-edge are the best looking Stangs, not much on the GT from the factory. The 99 and 01 Cobras are ok, the 03 and 04 are full of awesome...
@swan467 if you want an n/a new edge why not go with a mach1...I have an 03. best n/a mustang made until the 5.0 in 2011 came out. it's a drivers race with ls1s stock for stock. plus they're really cool...the seats and other mach 1 specific things...in some ways I like them better than termis...
@midnight347 I think a slammed Mach 1 with 03-04 Cobra wheels is the most badass looking car...LOL!!! ...toss some 4.30 gears, headers, X-pipe, tune and cold air, and you have one serious sumbitch...
@NedacFilms your right lol i would state that i think chevy is the best but u know how many are gonna call me stupid just because they dont think the same
It is kind of sad how slow the stock S281 Saleen were from 1996-2004....I had an '04 and it was a slug....however, they are NOT drag cars and NOT made to run 1/4 mile times that blow people away....they are incredibly well-handling Mustangs, and look tits....for cruising, going to a show, and still being fast enough to have fun with, they are perfect....but they are no match for a stock or bolt-on LS1, even with the supercharged 281...horribly inefficient blower design and shitty performance...
@Chadb89 actually the mustang 4.6 is geared for low end launches.. which it why generally the mustang's lose their torque after 3rd gear.. those LS1 5.7 love top end.. trust me ;)
@ModMob gearing is one thing, but the 4.6L was designed to rev higher and produce more power at higher RPM than the 5.0 pushrod predecessor so maybe thats only with the evolution of the mustang engine cuz i knw the LS1s pull up top also
The difference you see in the race is the CID. The 4.6 simply did not make much torque - at least not naturally aspirated. The LS is more than a full liter larger. Therefore, it will naturally create more torque and more power at the wheels. the modular is more modern and perhaps built better. It definitely revs higher and that's where you see it overtake the Camaro in the vid as well as the street. The 4V OHC mod motor responded to FI perhaps better than any engine up to that point.
@9secondko A conventional pushrod motor generally make more torque than an OHC motor... but can't rev as high. Certainly any motor can be made to perform in particular areas with good 'ole cash...LOL!!! GM's LS engines are torque monsters, and Ford's modular engines are high rev beasts. I honestly love them both equally and couldn't pick a favorite if I had too...
@9secondko The Saleens were SOHC engines. Some were N/A and some were S/C with a roots blower. The Camaro pulled away first because it does make killer torque and power. The Saleen caught it because forced induction (even roots) will pull harder as the rpms go up. If both cars were N/A, then the Camaro would have pulled away and never looked back. With different gears the Saleen may have gotten the drop but the LS1 5.7 would have quickly overwhelmed and taken the little 2V 4.6 at higher speeds.
@9secondko Answer me this then why is the newer 06+ Corvette z06 set to redline at 7k RPM and the 2011 Mustang GT with the modular motor set to redline at 7k RPM too... Also why does the the new super snake "gt 500" not rev to 9k rpm? I mean if modualr motors are built better and can handle more RMPs what the hell is ford thinking right?
@QuickSSilver98 Which to answer your question.... the motor isn't built to take anything higher.. The modular motor design are built to handle higher RPMS, but you have to have a motor that can withstand it... so in short to your answer... the block is made of cheap materials...Lol.. they are built to be decently fast and durable. nothing more..
@TrailRider9664 yes if it's a ls1 camaro go for it now if your choice was ls1 or 03-04 cobra then it would be a hard decision and I would say let your pockets decide
@TrailRider9664 Depends what you are looking to get out of it... Speed? Handling? Looks? I've always loved the Camaro and Mustang equally, and have owned many... But I personally would take a 1999 Camaro Z28 over a 1999 Mustang GT, or Cobra for that matter. The LS1 powered Z28 will outrun the GT and even Cobra of that particular year. The '99 Cobra's weren't very fast, but the 2001's had more power and evryone knows the 2003-04's are already legendary.
You obviously dont know enough about Mustangs to have an opinion. You sound one way on the matter!!!
The 1999 Cobra has 320hp and 315lbs tourque and so does the 2001 Cobra. Ford statistics say that 93% of all 1999 Cobra's have gone back to the dealership and got the fix so yes, the 2001 and 1999 are both equally powered. As a matter of fact, Most 1999 Cobras have the teksid block and can handle more power than the 2001 Cobras Windsor block.
The 03-04 Cobras makes about 385hp with lower compression pistons than the 99-01 cobra and has a factory eaton blower. The 385 was once rated at the flywheel but dyno test show they actually make that to the wheels so it is underrated. The same with the 320hp Ls1 f-bodies. They actually make about 350hp. They are faster than the 99-01 Cobras but they defianantly cant handle as much abuse because they are pushrod engines, its proven.
The Cobra's are also sleeved blocks and handmade by 2 Ford Technicians who all have their signature engraved on the engine. There was more craftmanship and care involved when building the Cobra Engines, the tolerances are much more stringent. Comparing the Quality Of a LS1 Engine and that of a Cobra engine is like comparing the quality of a rolex and a citizen watch. The pushrod thing is a simple, but the DOHC... Now thats a work of art!!!
I will admit the Gt engines are trash, but to me, they are no better than a LS1.... The LT1 is a little better but only because its Cast Iron and Not Aluminum!!!!
@butanebird91 I agree, but it doesn't change the fact that a 1999 pushrod LS1 makes more power than the 1999 DOHC 4.6 4V from the factory. Over 50hp more...
I love Mustangs... I love F-bodies the same. The 4.6 4V simply doesn't make as much torque and power as a 5.7 LS1 without a power adder. They might handle more modifications and are better built, sure... and rev much higher... and handle more, and last longer, etc... but they dyno much less @ the wheels.
@NedacFilms The funny thing is that even against the 03-04 Cobras, an LS1 6speed will still keep up with them on the 1/4! LS1 Camaros run high 12s stock, and so the the Terminators. And I disagree that the 4.6s are better built. A friend of mine has a 02 GT and he did a heads/cam only setup(400WHP) and spun a rod bearing first time on the track. And the car has been meticulously taken care of. I have done, heads/cam and nitrous setups on LS1s at 600+RWHP and never had a problem. (shrug)
@AdrenalineJunky17 They are both great motors. The LS based GM engines are just "FREAKS" that are built for power and the 4.6's were trial horses that has lead up to maybe the greatest design in engines ever, the new modular 5.0 "coyote motor" that are in the new Boss 302 Mustang. But there is no denying that the LS1, LS2, LS3, LS7, etc, are some of the greatest examples of American engineering as well. Its like picking a snickers bar or a milky way, which is better? It comes down to taste, LOL
@SN95Project Yeah, he seems to know his stuff from the answers he gave to my questions! I will check out that site! I'm planning to get a WS6 T/A soon! I have a 99 Z28 Camaro right now and I love it. Thanks though.
@butanebird91 I'm not one way on the matter... I own a Mustang website (Mustang-Town)
Do a Muscle Mustang & Fast Fords search on 2001 Cobra specs vs 1999 Cobra specs and you will see that the 2001 puts down 40 more hp due to exhaust, tune and a few other changes from Ford, because the '99's were such a disappointment against the early LS1's. Or you might find it on my website. I agree that the DOHC engines are far better design than the conventional pushrod engines.
@NedacFilms I also have a question. There is a Mustang Fan boy that is telling me that Chevrolet stole Fords design for the LS1 and that it's just a copy of the 5.0 or something like that. Do you know anything about that? I have not seen the blueprints side by side, but I don't think the Chevrolet LS1 5.7L 350ci is a copy of the 5.0L Ford engine... But I might be wrong.
@AdrenalineJunky17 LOL! That is silly, Ford & GM have very contrasting designs. 1st, GM never stole any engine design. Ford and GM engine designs are nothing of the same. Ford produces a far more modern OHC "modular" high revving design, while GM has stayed true to original American conventional V8 OHV pushrod, but far superior than the older design, it is state of the art in that design & makes crazy torque . Both are incredible designs. I like the route Ford is heading though. & im out of room
@NedacFilms That's what I said. Completely different designs. Pushrod vs OHC but I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't just being a fanboy. I wanted to make sure that I knew what I was talking about lol! Thanks!
@NedacFilms Believe it or not, the 1999 Cobra only dyno'd around 250hp @ the rear wheels (give or take), whereas the 2001 Cobra dyno'd around 280hp @ the rear wheels (give or take). Most '99 Cobras were returned to the factory and corrected by Ford, with revised intake, computer tune and exhaust changes. Many 1999 Cobra owners were very disappointed w/ the advertised 300+ HP, as they weren't able to compete with LS1 powered F-bodies, but Ford stepped up and corrected these problems w/ the 99's.
@todd197349 its funny how YouTubers are so quick to call people idiots, stupid and dumbasses from there keyboards... it shows exactly what kind of cowardly people they are... certainly you don't do this while standing close to someone or they'd probably knock your teeth out...LOL!!!
@todd197349 no way in hell your 99 Mustang is stock then. Also the producer of these videos and the guy you just called bow-tie boy owns a Mustang Cobra and also owns the Mustang-Town website, lol
Thanx guys I can't reply back to you bc I'm on my iPod but you might not believe me but I am a young fellow except I've always been into camaros and and have a Blown 69 Camaro (Not all the way mine) but am getting my first road car which is most likely goin to be a built 1998 camaro btw I'm 14
@KYLEmann35 I've always felt that way, myself. I truly love the Mustang and Camaro equally, and have owned quite a few of both. They're are some things the Camaro is better at, as they're are some things the mustang is better at. They are both American iron Icons. I've been a Domestic Musclecar fan since I bought my first Firebird Formula back in 1988... But as a "true car guy" I must say I respect imports like the EVO, STI and Supra as well. Just not my 1st choice, but they are still very cool.
@NedacFilms Your my idol i love you lol someone that understands haha :D... Thats the way i think to :D!!!!!! Domestic muscle car fan also my first car right now is an 04 Gt love camaros and Trans am also ! and i respect imports but rather drive muscle :D
@EliteLoveday23 You are very right...LOL!!!! No such thing as an 03 Camaro. 2002 was the end of the 4th generation. My guess is that he accidentally typed 03 when he meant to hit 02...??? I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. But there is always the possibility that he is a young fella that doesn't know any better. We all know there is alot of that on YouTube.
@EliteLoveday23 They didn't. There were ZERO Camaro models produced between 2002 and 2009(First half). And NO the 2010 Camaro concept cars in 2008 don't count.
@KYLEmann35 I think he assumes you own a Camaro because of your profile pic being a 4th gen Camaro. Weird posting someones car as your own, don't you think?
that's just a regular s281...supercharged ones have 350 hp to 365 hp depending on year (in the new edges). my buddy has a 2000 and it came with 350 hp the later ones were like 365 I do beieve...not sure but neither are stock anyways. yes it's blown but it's a 2v 4.6...compared to a 5.7 ls1 with mods...

@todd197349 its funny how YouTubers are so quick to call people idiots, stupid and dumbasses from there keyboards... it shows exactly what kind of cowardly people they are... certainly you don't do this while standing close to someone or they'd probably knock your teeth out...LOL!!!

I might look like an idiot but I thought chevys last gen b4 2005-2010 was 1998-2002 I didn't know that chevy had an 03 camaro? Comment back please
EliteLoveday23 1 year ago
@EliteLoveday23 You are very right...LOL!!!! No such thing as an 03 Camaro. 2002 was the end of the 4th generation. My guess is that he accidentally typed 03 when he meant to hit 02...??? I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. But there is always the possibility that he is a young fella that doesn't know any better. We all know there is alot of that on YouTube.
NedacFilms 1 year ago
@EliteLoveday23 They didn't. There were ZERO Camaro models produced between 2002 and 2009(First half). And NO the 2010 Camaro concept cars in 2008 don't count.
SternLX 1 year ago
@EliteLoveday23 Oops, that shoulda been 2006-2008 concepts.

@EliteLoveday23
there is no such thing as an 03 camaro. They stopped in 02.

@KYLEmann35 I think he assumes you own a Camaro because of your profile pic being a 4th gen Camaro. Weird posting someones car as your own, don't you think?
NedacFilms 1 year ago
@KYLEmann35 Hundred bucks says you own a Camaro...??? Maybe the stupidest comment I have ever read.

@iceguy2003 the band is L.U.N.G.S, the CD is "better class of losers" ... it was produced around the late 1990s.
