@joeylenseigne120 .. Well.. You have to remember.. This movie was made in 1971.. There were still a lot of narrow nose Pete's still working then.. This rig was purchased from " Oil Transport Co. " to be the back up truck in case the main truck quit.. ( again ) lol....
@12325866 The truck started out with a 262 Cummins... It was later upgraded to a 350hp. small cam Cummins.... With the injector pump turned way up... Top speed of this rig was limited do to a low rear end ratio.. Since i sold it.. It has been outfitted with taller rear end gears for a higher top speed
WOW,, thanks man, that was a cool ride to be in that thing.. probably the most uncomfortable passenger seat in the summer time! sure the AC isnt working anymore, lol jk... thanks again
does the duel truck have 2 gear levers that is so cool i'm so jelous of you can you get little models of her would you know she seems really fast i thought she was a great looking truck in the film but your video makes her look even better
Aaawwww!! Well, thank you for letting me take a quick virtual ride in it before you sold it. Very Cool to see one still around and well cared for. I appreciate it greatly
@allispuller1952 ,, The Tran's in that truck are 5x3.. Truck ran great when I had it.. ( it was a 350 small cam turned way up ).. The truck came with a 262 which coughed up a cylinder during a vid shoot... As far as the Manuel steering.. Not bad as long as the rig was moving..
RexCars1, thanks for posting this video. I was under the impression that this model year of the 281 was normally aspirated. However, when you pull onto the freeway entrance, I could swear I heard a turbocharger. So can you tell me: Turbo or non-Turbo?
@mattlth In 1960 you had lots of engine options.. This rig was orig. equipped with a 262 Cummins... but a 220 NA. motor was also available.. even a gas motor as a base line option... The 262 died in the making of the David Lee Roth vid. called " She's my Machine ".. And was replaced by a 350 small cam Cummins.. Which the truck still has in it... So.. Yes.. That is the Turbo spooling up you hear .. When the truck is getting on the freeway..
@RexCars1 they claim the one actually used in the movie was a 1955 281 that was repowered in the mid sixties with a 1674 caterpillar,it was a inline six cylinder, dual overhead cam 270hp,
Man i just want to know what you did with the rig, and if you know where i can find one that is just siting someplace cause i plan on finding one and fixin it with my buddy?
always loved DUEL! love even more the tanker! the engine roar is wonderful! your video is really cool! I collect everything I can about this beautiful truck!
i really this one man, i like it better then your other and that's pretty hard for me to say that and i heard the low rumble of the engine at 2:07, god i wish i could taken a ride in it just once
@mechajason Yea.. I here ya.. The other vid is fancier... But. This is the real sound of the rig.. No music.. Just the truck.. and I kinda like that too......
Thats how you do it, blow that coffee can right off. Hope to see you at Bob's this summer.
