England! We were once great! But not now however, there are still a few of us left that would make the sacrifice again to make her great again!!

Is it just luck that the English language evolved so that the words 'king' and 'queen' and 'him/he' and 'her/she' could all be flexibly substituted for each other in the anthem, depending on the current monarch?

I am an Indian, its so beautiful I wish I were British. I am an English Lit student and am desperately trying to get acquainted with the great nation of England's etiquettes and all. The thing so lovely in your anthem is that, while USA boasts its triumph and valour and Australia praises its natural wealth and youth, the English anthem says that you fix your hope on God. No wonder it was so victorious some ages past and no doubt will rise to its peak again. God save the queen and God bless you!
