  • The kid spinning the wheel is my uncle. Mike Gillespie. Son of Dick Gillespie, VP of R&D for Wham-o

  • HEY HEY HEY! NO COMMENT FIGHTING! People trying to relive their wheelie bar memories around here.

  • @12319gp That was just stupid & ignorant! Grab a brain and try using it before replying with non-sense. If you don't understand the subject matter (which you obviously don't) you should keep your piehole shut. You're not the first punk kid to "think" he knows it all, and won't be the last, but the fact of the matter is that you don't have a clue what the subject is about, and need to listen, learn and shut the f..k up until you can keep up with an intelligent conversation! P.S. Bite me!

  • @12319gp Whatever dude....... get your stories straight. If that was an attempt to be funny, you failed. Find a new hobby.... Again, the posts that were on here were for a different subject. You jumped in without a clue as to what we were talking about! But hey! Who gives a shit punk...... go play with your skateboard and leave conversation to people who are educated! hahaha

  • and this is this commercial that started having commercials with do not attempt unless a professional

  • Today, the society of pushy moms would be all over this video for the fact that NONE of the kids are wearing helmets.

  • Helicopter parents are raising wimpy, clingy kids.Back in the day, parents told us to get outside and don't come back till dinner time

  • When they added sound effects on the cars and motorcycle I was expecting for a sound effect for the kid on the bike.

I also like how the announcer said it was "Precision-Enginered by WHAM-O"

  • we made our own stuff like that.,even took the sweeper pipes and taped them to the fender braces to look like exhaust!......till Mom went looking for them......LOL

  • HA! The comments about how much more dangerous back in the day are from people that have not kept up with the current level BMX is at. Not all kids are lazy on the couch, some are going at levels never dreamed of. Search youtube and you'll see what I'm talking about.

  • i'm 13 and ride a fully restored 1964 stingray with wham o's and it totally kicks ass next to those cheap chinese mountainbikes here in belgium .

  • Notice not a single one of those kids is wearing a god forsaken helmet. Or worse, elbow and knee pads - those were the days. \m/

  • @JohhnyMayhem Hell, they weren't even wearing shoes!

  • little timmy went the farthest, all the time, until he went the farthest trying to jump the river with it while standing on his seat, hes a real hero, too bad the wheelie bar was boring and we took it off

  • Before we learned how to spell 'concussion'.

  • how much they cost

  • aahh i have to find a way to get one of these

  • these were the first trick bmx stunts

  • it's more fun to do it whitout a wheelie bar

  • Definately a 70s thing. The only thing missing is the playing cards clacking on the spokes!!

  • good toys that they used to make here in the good old USA!! NOT THE CHEAP CHINESE SHIT TOYS THEY MAKE NOW!!

  • oh bet the lawyers would love this product today!!!

  • why would i want a wheelie bar when i can just do one regularly for about a minute

  • wow. you must get laid ALL THE TIME. wait 'til the ladies hear about your obscure youtube comment post wheelie legend.

  • FOR GAYS

  • Man I gotta gets some and do barspinzzzz all day long.

  • This is a BSNYc approved product.

  • gunna get one for my roadie.

  • The way he was sayin Wheelie was making me CRAZY!!! Its like how stewie said Cool-Whip in family guy. So much emphises on the H !!!

  • Those were the days when we didnt cry like a bunch of pussys no matter how hard we kissed pavement.

  • @yumyumsashimi I'm sure you weren't even born yet

  • No way they could sell this today!!

  • NO helmets?

  • looks like the easiest way to crack your head open

  • Does anyone remember Lawn Darts? Now that's safest at its finest!

  • Ahh yess.. the good old days when there was lead in your paint and everything was flammable...and still, we All survived LOL

  • OMG! i had a stingray back in the day.

Notice no one wore helmets or pads on bicycles back then, and yet we all survived. Amazing LOL

  • Or Shoes!!!

  • is this commercial serious?

    wheelie bars on bikes?

    Da hell?

I think I need to lay off the jesus juice now......lol

  • We all survived the 1960's , we even jumped out of two story windows on the grass, and went ice burg jumping in the sump. Climbed to the top of the high tension electric towers. Explored the sewer systems under the streets, Doing a wheelie with that safety bar on was for girls.

  • this ad would never make it on TV these days. HEalth and safety would screw it, no helmets and riding the bike improperly.

    Danger FTW!

  • The good ole days! Thats when we knew excitement and being tough!

  • "see who can fall and break their face first" lol. i like who absolutely no one wears a helmet in this ad, back then there was no such thing as cranial fractures haha

  • We used to ride wheelies on our stingrays without those. These are like cheating.

  • One of these things, mint in package, went for a couple hundred bucks on eBay several years back. Haven't seen one since, but also haven't looked. Nothin' wrong with wheelies... if you can do them. Probably (?) safer with one of these things on. Never saw a kid fall doing a wheelie even once! I had an extra fork welded on the front of my bike to make it a chopper. It fell off going down a steep hill and I went over the bars, without one scratch. Of course, I never rode a bike again.

  • Yes, this is much more dangerous than it was back in "the day"........ Because we've decided it's easier to put our kids in front of the TV and let them die of natural causes...... Like, obesity and heart disease. Why would anyone want to take a chance that kids might enjoy going out and playing? Accidents? Yes, they will always be around. My son was chasing his brother in the house when he stole the remote, and the brother fell against the wood furniture and busted his head open. Ban wood?

  • i agree

  • Stop that, STOP THAT, far too dangerous for kids now days. Now go play videogames and watch TV kids it's much safer.

    R.I.P. natural selection.

  • lol thats the reason america is so obese today b/c there too much TV and video games and not enough bike riding but its either get fat or get hurt all the time,

  • id rather them get hurt

  • lol

  • I haven't seen this commercial since 1966. I invented one of these after my dad took me and a friend to the 1965 Winter National drag races in Long Beach, CA. I came home and sawed a skateboard in half and nailed it to an old Stingray seat post. I took an old curtain rod and jammed it between the seat and the skateboard. I ended up making several for other kids in the neighborhood after they saw it. That following summer (1966), I was watching TV and saw the Wham-O commercial.

  • Okay, the shot of the kid STANDING on the seat, pulling a wheelie, rocking the handlebars back and forth, and having FUN, needs to be broadcast on a continual loop on national television and burned into the corneas of every scum sucking liability attorney in the world.

Have fun kids, and tell everyone else to get bent!

    Go Wham-O!

  • amazon, where i get this things ?

  • They don't have commercials like these anymore... what ever happened to wam o?

  • This is great. No helmets. No shoes. How did we survive a life so fraught with danger?
