I am not a Propecia salesman. This is my own experience. Just take it for it or leave it. I can’t care less whether you buy Propecia or not. This is an option that I think, unfortunately, many balding men are not aware, until it is too late. Propecia works for men with minimal to moderate hair loss. It does not regenerate new hair. It just strengthen the existing, which may make the whole head of hair look fuller.

Finasteride only cost $9 a month at Wal-mart. Caught mine early, and now there's no trace of thinning. I think Propecia works better for early stages of baldness. Don't be afriad to ask your Dr., It's very easy to get the perscription.

I've been on finasteride for over six years. In the first few months, I had some minor groin ache, but it went away completely. I've never had sex, so I can't say for sure whether I'm getting sexual side effects, but I don't think I am. I haven't regrown any hair, but I've had no noticeable loss since 2004 or 2005.

Have you tried Avodart.

Its a dual alpha-5-reductase inhibitor (inhibits both type I and type II enzyme) whereas Propecia just inhibits Type II of a5r.

Avodart is much more effective than Propecia. It blocks a lot more DHT from being produced and more importantly blocks it in the important place (the scalp tissue)

It inhibits both type I and type II a5r. Type I a5r isoenzyme is predominant in scalp tissue. Propecia is unable to inhibit type I, it can only inhibit type II.

Check out twinshairloss com. Both are identical twins. One took Avodart from the start, the other did nothing. Big difference

The wonderful thing about the internet is that almost everyone has it in today's world. Thus, you will begin to see the spectrum of results people attain, or the spectrum of side effects.Side effects will appear higher than 1-2% of people with since people will anxiously look online and post there concerns (understandably so). Propecia works, it's just the problem with the side effects..The problem with the side effects in propecia is the fact that the recommended dose is 1 mg daily. Although, studies have shown that there was no difference between a .2 mg - 1 mg dosage of Propecia.Many people believe that the actual recommended dosage is much too high which creates more side effects.As is true, I have split my daily dosage to .25 mg (1/4) of my 1 mg propecia pill. anybody thats confused about hair transplants , hair transplants are your last option,and wouldnt recommend one. No one really knows much about hair loss that is because the hair industry is run by hair transplant doctors, and they know once hair loss gets past a certain stage it is usally late to grow it back, and your only option is to transplant it.

@slimuscle7 I used it for about ten years. Stopped and even reversed the hair loss but had terrible panic attacks. I didn't realize that the propecia might be contributing to the panic attacks. I stopped using it. My hair is falling out like crazy now but the panic attacks have slowed down considerably. I have not considered getting my testosterone levels checked but I do know that my interest in sex isn't as great as it used to be...it could be just aging though....
