What he said stil applies today...We are stil on that same road. It has been about fourt-five years now and anyone who will look into it can see that he called that out. "The evidence is clear"....Yes we do have freedoms, but for how long? And are we less free now than fourty-five years ago? Its a hole different world and continues to get worse.

Okay watching this again. I think he was over-reacted. He is right complacency will help end our government, one wouldn't have to look any further than the Patriot Act. But I must say, he rang the bells of fear too much, and was frankly wrong, as seen by the fact we still have our freedoms. Our country was not on the road to socialism, maybe a social democracy, but not pure socialism. Actually the best is a mix of capitalism and socialism, which is what we have.

You may called it something else - Anti Communism, Free Capitalism..., or what ever, but it shows signs of Fascism. ( State taking control over Economy and vice versa). @ryanjholman Hey there. I want to reach out to you and help you understand that the last great president we had was John F. Kennedy and he was assassinated because of it. Ezra Taft Benson could see that in 1953, socialism had entangled its grip around the throat of the nation YEARS previous to this speech he gave. In 1913, the federal reserve act was passed and we have been living in tyranny ever since and its ever growing. Most of the people have been ignorant to this fact, but ETB was not.

Our prophets have always said that they do not endorse any political party. We are encouraged to be involved in our government whether Republican, Democrat or Independent. The Republican party is not exempt from these ominous warnings.

Anyone who judges the worthiness of a fellow member of the church and would question the bishop and stake president who issued that temple recommend is more of threat to the "common good . Who has the right to judge his personal and spirtutal motives? I don't know nor understand what Christian values you speak of. brettwjensen, Do you know what a prophet even is?  He's a seer. Once you see, you know...regardless of when you are talking. Did you even listen to his prophetic predictions? He said 40 years ago, "we are moving towards socialism," and that policies "corrupt our national currency". You must not understand the definition of socialism, therefore you don't realize how close his prophecies are to being fulfilled. Socialism headlines even plaster liberal columns.
