That's NOT snag fishing. What makes you think this is snag fishing? We are required by law not to use single point hooks with no barbs, and the hook can be no more than 5/8 of an inch from point to shank.

you need to fish oregon. we have runs all year round. it is only a few more hours drive. just get some basic info on our rivers and fish runs before you try.
