There is something a bit odd about this video, however I don't think it's fake as with a few week's practise I expect most people could achieve the same speed with this tune.
idk if its real or not im just saying it could be two shots spliced together since noones holding the camera you couldve just filmed it two separate times one with the clock and the other sped up its still possible to fake im not saying it is though
The way to tell that this isn't sped up is by measuring the speed at which the piano keys come back up-you'll find it interesting that the rate that they rise is the same as that of a standard piano played at a standard speed. The clock thing was pretty retarded, though...I would recommend getting a nicer camera and pointing out things that can't be so readily disparaged as 'edited'. Anyhow, kudos on having the time and drive to work this up.
haha you guys are pretty thick... of course it's sped up; he makes it super obvious by speeding it up to ungodly speeds. This video is supposed to be a joke, showing that he could still speed it up with the clock and without distorting the audio. All of you are taking it WAY too seriously...
If you've used a camcorder before, you'll know that if you hold darker colors such as green/blue in front of the lens for extended amounts of time, then suddenly cut to lighter scenes, it tries to correct itself by upping the red value of the picture.
@Clatapist he uses reason 4.0, those are his virtual instruments, that keyboard is just the controller, you kinda do leave that up if that is what you are working with.
I happen to believe that this is real. As someone mentioned earlier, his keyboard has weighted keys, which clearly returns to their position at a normal rate. Also not to mention, that anyone who could play a Jordan Rudess keyboard solo could probably easily play this.
Jordan Rudess's music is far from impossible, but this video is just so over the top. Also, you can hear Jordan making mistakes but this Drew man above here doesn't.
He just didn't play what you hear, but you'll need a piano or keyboard to figure that out yourself.
And like I said, he's using lies as excuses why it couldn't be fake.
But believe whatever you want. I played the piano for my whole life but that ain't valid, apparently.
Anyhow, pure LMAO my man. I LOVED this video response (I only don't like the fact you turned on comment approval on the other video to hide/disapprove the truth).
And I love your music and album. I might buy it. Good job keeping the music up.. at least.. in some of your other vids! ;-)
Let's make an end of this chaos. The fact that the 1st vid's quality decreased by a LOT, the faster he played is only because the video didn't have enough frames to fill those up, and so there are random white/yellow flashes at the times he sped it up. Also, he uses MIDI with piano samples, and MIDI does NOT distort when speeding it up. People who think this is not sped up just don't know anything about MIDI. And (in the 1st vid) you could see him play F-G-Eb-D instead of the F-E-Eb-D you hear.
One reason I think it's real: the rate the keys return to their normal positions, because he's playing on weighted keys.
One reason I think it's fake: I never heard of anyone playing 8th note chords 2 octaves apart at 450bpm, not even mentioning the fact that he doesn't miss a note.
i wanted to believe this was real but its not lol... the lighting changes and the clock glicthes and stays on 44/45 seconds 2 times... nice try... i can play the song on my keyboard, record it and speed it up without it being distorted and match it with my playing
Why would someone repeat something fake? Well, Kyon (TheIshter) did it in his video (or did you miss that in the forums?).
Anyhow, sometimes you just don't need to do something yourself before being allowed to say that something is bad or fake. And this is one of those cases imo.
However, WILDYM0D's reasons aren't valid nor true. But well, he at least saw that this is fake so I'll give him only half of the props he would've gotten if he had valid reasons.
ok any1 who says this is a fake is a retard. i can play it at that speed(even though its not perfect when i play that fast) but still. he didn't edit this at all. look at martin leung he can play it that fast too.
seriously. try playing maple leaf rag, the full song, about 40 seconds. originally, the song is like 3 minutes regular speed. you going to go to his video and say that its sped up just because he's playing it fast?
i can only imagine how much this guy loves the attention, and these silly arguments everyone is having :) i congratulate him on playing so many of you for fools, on both sides of this argument
to prove it to the idiots, you could try hanging the clock around your neck and have it hang off your back. if you really are moving that fast, the clock will move fast, but the hands wont.
That's ridiculous. this is clearly sped up, seriously. You've got all your little computer equipment there, all you could've done is just edit the video and crop it, you just crop out the clock and make it look like like you're playing really fast. Just look at his head, and the way his hands are moving and the way the keys are pressed down, it's clearly sped up.
No, he uses a CME UF8 master keyboard, did you ever try to play on this thing ? This is a pretty heavy bastard, the keys are weighted and very, very slow, the bounce back is very slow, that's a fact. You simply can't play so fast with this keyboard ! IT IS SPED UP !!!
Now you're just being an idiot. You called me a fake, I gave you proof--I'm playing with a clock. That's more than I ought to do; I'm not going to entertain your silly delusions any longer.
@unrequitedreason well, while it may appear fake, if you watch the keys, they clearly rise slow(at their normal speed... that would be pretty damn hard to isolate if there were camera/editing tricks involved...
But if he did a sort of 'splitscreen'. And recorded the clock separatly.. And recorded played the midi file in a VST and just sped it up. If you do that, the sound won't get distorted and that would result in all this.
Believe me.. I'm quite good with computers. I've also got a few fakes (guitar) on my youtube channel. Okay.. my hand moves are 100% unrealistic, but.. Yeah. watehver XD
wow,I didn't think you'd put up the clock. Good job. It looks real. As far as audio speed/distortion - you COULD speed up a midi playback. Record it in human speed, then playback Reason, setting it to, oh I don't know-120 BAZILLION bpm? Not that I'm stubborn or anything...(?) Now, you could somehow meddle with the clock (I know I'm pushing it, but this is fun). A pendulum would be more authentic. Now I'm even second-guessing my own idea. You're obviously a talented pianist!
This is fake. He edited the video, and it is easy because the clock is always in the same place on the wall during all the video, ok ? So, you can isolate a square area of pixels with the clock in it, and create a video which shows only this area, at the normal speed of the real playing, so in real time, hence the hands of the clock move at their normal speed.
Then you speed up the whole video (the guy playing and all the stuff), and of course you change the sound in order to avoid the Chipmunk effect, and you paste the video of the "normal" clock into the accelerated video. It is just like DTRemcoG wrote in his comment. FAKE, FAKE, FAKE !!!
faggot faker.

watch the keys rebounding!
if it was sped up, they would rebound quicker.
or do you think that he recorded the clock, hand movents and key rebounds seperately??
why do people think it's impossible to be able to move a hand back and forth this fast?
