  • I really enjoyed the review..

I need a small fix blade to put in my hiking pack, and I think this would fit the bill...

  • @Hiluxtaco Do it. You won't be sorry. You can buy one through my store. Get the Zytel sheath version.

  • For a lanyard you may try taking the inner strands out of paracord and just use the outer sheath. works good for me and doesn't get in the way. I agree, Mora stainless doesn't work well in a Scandi grind. Thanks for the review

  • Very good review!

  • Would you be able to put the knife in the sheath with the strap if you would have some camotape around the handle?

  • @Petegrin1

I have the F1 and the A1, and yes u can

  • @cooksecurities Hi sharpening your F1 you might wanna look into micromesh. Using micromesh is a pretty easy and cost effective way of keeping your knife razor sharp. Different grits from 1800 up to 4000 are very appropriate for resharpening your knife. Cheers.

  • I have trouble keeping the f1's edge sharp; and I also own the DC4 stone to use to sharpen; I have yet to be ablee to get it back to out of the box razor sharp. very frustrating.

  • @cooksecurities The F1 has a convex edge. It is easy to keep it sharp when using a strop and polishing compound (green and gray). The DC4 I'll use for field use touchups, but it is hard to keep the convex edge razor sharp with it. Best to use a strop. You can also carry a piece of leather with the polishing compound on it, but I found that the DC4 works well enough for short trips that I just use that instead.

  • @CrawlingRoad I am so frustrated with it, or me that I have thought about taking a sledge hammer to it, and end it once and for all. AAAHHHH!

  • @cooksecurities Look into buying the strop kit from knivesshipfree (with green and gray compound) and watching the videos on how to use it. It takes a little practice, but I promise you'll get it to hair shaving sharp with a strop.

  • @CrawlingRoad thanks man for your responses; yes, stropping it is what I need to do to get the blade to very sharp. And practice practice practice.

  • hi! sorry to bother you, i have a question, in between the f1 and de s1, the only difference is the size? thank you!

  • vg10 is used for kitchen knifes so i really dont think it schould be Any probelm having it in the dishwacher

  • I just got back from a trip in Sweden and Norway. I have awesome video footage and lots of new knives! Check back in the future. Enjoy that F1, it's a great knife.

  • i dont know if you got any experiance of those steels but here we go. Wich steel do you think is best of the VG10 lam steel and the 3G lam Steel?

cuz im thinking about buying the f1 with 3g lam steel and not vg10 but im not sure.

    Please answer!

  • @Petegrin1 I have bought the 3G version because I liked the VG10 so much. After using the 3G on several multiday trips now I can say I like the VG10 version better. The 3G is getting small nicks in the edge from basic non-abusive usage. I don't know what is going on with it, but the VG10 is 1/2 the price and doesn't have this problem and still holds a great edge. So get the VG10 and save your money on the 3G.

  • Your knife reviews are very impressive, I really enjoy them. Which blade size do you prefer - S1 or F1 for most bushcraft? I have the S1 and find the blade a little too big.... I'm thinking about swapping it for an F1. I also have a BRK B1 on the way.

  • @Surfingthe805 Thanks for the comments. I like the F1 because the blade is a better all around size. But the S1 is a great choice for someone wanting a little bigger blade. It has a great balance.

  • i did like the review.my experience with the knife was slightly different concerning the edge. that little micro V edge it came with was very sharp, but it rolled easily. so i got rid of it and put a slightly steeper convex on it. I think VG10 is good steel but i carved a spoon and it kinda lost its edge. it was easy to get it back only with a strop. i have a stainless mora clipper and with about the same amount of carving, i found the mora had a better edge in the end.

  • @SpartanJohns Sorry to hear about rolling an edge. This has not happened to me with the VG-10 steel. Although I have been seeing micro chips happening pretty easily with the 3G version. I recommend sticking with the VG10 in this knife based on my experience with both.

  • Liking your reviews Craig. Good job.

    See ya on BCUSA

    Hiwa

  • Nice video. I put my Glocks through the dishwasher, too. It's works great.

  • Perhaps the rust on the sheath rivets came from running it through the dishwasher? Nice video.

  • @edgecomb3 That's possible. But I'm pretty sure it was there before I had started. I carry that knife a lot in my pocket and it gets exposed to sweat. Still the F1 is one of my favorite knives and the sheath works fine.

  • Great reviews! Subscribed...

  • I am wondering what you recommend for wet weather gear / clothing / footwear? I was trying to read the label on your jacket but couldn't make it out.

  • I have tried many types of gear over the years and all breathable fabrics have failed me in sustained bad rain. I now use a rubberized fabric called Helly Hansen Impertech. It is very tough and has never once gotten me wet no matter how badly it was pouring. The gear is a little heavier than lighter so-called "breathable" fabrics, but it has never failed. I'd rather carry six extra ounces for gear that works.

I put some links to the jacket type I am wearing in my store.

  • @CrawlingRoad Thanks for the fast reply. I'll follow the links from your store.

  • @pixelvale Also the jacket I have on is a Mountain Hardware Compressor. It's a lightweight insulated jacket. Good to about the low-30s to mid-20s for me. I wear it as part of my layering system. It is synthetic so it works well in wet weather and dries very quickly. I try to avoid any and all down garments if I know it's going to be wet. No matter how careful I am, I just find they get damp eventually just from the water in the air and accidents can always happen.

  • @CrawlingRoad I'll check these folks out as well. And I agree about using synthetics in the rain.

  • Fallkniven F1...Strong enough to withstand your dishwasher! that could make a great bit of advertising

  • @YllwNinja Yes I was goofing around. The Fallkniven with rubberized handle is the only type of knife I own that I'd do this to.

  • I got my F1 since a couple of weeks as well. What a great knife! It just is so perfectly balanced and the lines are very refined. You can tell it was in the making for a long time.

  • Great job.

  • Great review Craig! I like F1 , I had the 3G version and I sold it long time ago! I expect the next 3G batch ! I will love to see what you think about Bravo1 , I have one and it is a very well designed knife ! Thanks Mike!

  • @torquefactory The Bravo 1 is a good feeling knife. It looks larger than what I'd usually prefer, but the balance is excellent and is one of my favorite knives. I will post a review in the near future.
