I am from the Netherlands and after reading the article in Dutch I have to say that the use of "niggabitch" in this context is probably not the 'nigga' derived from 'nigger' but from the Dutch 'neger' which is the shortened version of negroide (nigga is used in street style Dutch language), which is the technical term for a person with dark skin in Dutch. 'bitches' is also Dutch slang for women. and golden throat or as in the article "gouden keeltje" is a Dutch expression meaning good singer.

Dutch comes from an old word, diets, which was the language spoken in this part of Europe before there was a standard national language, or a nation really. Holland meant 'wooded land' I think. Used to refer to only one province, which later got split up in two, North and South Holland.

@cannoir Don't make up stuff and call it facts! First off: you don't seem to understand what constitutes a language and what makes it different from a dialect, there r actual criteria for that. Based on those, all linguists consider Dutch to be a language. 2nd Dutch doesn't sound hardly as aggressive as German to me and many others, that's just a matter of opinion. I do agree on the 'better structured' part in the sense that Dutch is super complicated because of all the exceptions to every rule.

The only real similarity is that the way sentences are built (the order of the words) is practically the same. Example, in English you say "I'm going home", if you would translate the Dutch and German sentence literally you would basically get "I go to house". Other than that, German sounds more aggressive, some words are similar, but defenitely not all and it really is a different language.

Yup, I wish I could say I was suprised, days after my last comment everybody is going on about the "nigga" part of "niggabitch", and nary a word about the "bitch". As I say, misogyny. I wouldn't have thought I would have to spell it out for you all, but that's misogynists for you. Most of them don't even know they are doing it. Which is particularly sad in more ways than one.

"Golden throat" isn't exactly a widespread agreed compliment to use for singers, but it's used frequently in music reviews It simply means someone can sing beautifully, and their "throat" (or to be more politically correct "vocal cords") is of a higher value, talent, worth, and potential than a lot of other people's. As for "niggabitch".. well there's just no defending that other than being a foreign music writer who hasn't quite grasped American slang or terminology.

When the Romans first met the Nubians, they asked them "who is your king?" From now on all Americans are banned from using the word "ghetto". They seem to have no idea what it means and their use of it is highly offensive. A ghetto is a part of a city in which jews are forced to live. The term has a much longer history than the word nigger, because it derives from a Venitian decre from 1516. Using the term for a poor neighborhood is highly offensive, after the cruelties of the Nazis.
Let non-Americans use the words and make the (fried-chicken-)commercials they want.

Blacks who are fortunate and driven enough to work as an editor will use language that is appropriate to the educational background that was required to obtain the position.

I am from the Netherlands and after reading the article in Dutch I have to say that the use of "niggabitch" in this context is probably not the 'nigga' derived from 'nigger' but from the Dutch 'neger' which is the shortened version of negroide (nigga is used in street style Dutch language), which is the technical term for a person with dark skin in Dutch. 'bitches' is also Dutch slang for women. and golden throat or as in the article "gouden keeltje" is a Dutch expression meaning good singer.

@theone0044 in Dutch the terms used in the article(which was not written in English by the way) are largely harmless. always keep in mind that even if the word is the same in multiple languages it doesn't have to mean the same or especially carry the same impact. having said this it is also true that the writers should have done some more research on how it would come across but large chunks of our population aren't that good at English so the aim is to use language used by the add's targets.

Dutch comes from an old word, diets, which was the language spoken in this part of Europe before there was a standard national language, or a nation really. Holland meant 'wooded land' I think. Used to refer to only one province, which later got split up in two, North and South Holland.

Im dutch and I know that a lot of dutch people are kinda bad in english. In dutch when you say someone has a golden throat it means he/she can sing really good. fact Dutch is in fact a German dialect. whether you like it or not. I can have a conversation in German and the other person would respond in German. We understand one another. German is just better structured than Dutch and whole lot less aggressive .

@cannoir Don't make up stuff and call it facts! First off: you don't seem to understand what constitutes a language and what makes it different from a dialect, there r actual criteria for that. Based on those, all linguists consider Dutch to be a language. 2nd Dutch doesn't sound hardly as aggressive as German to me and many others, that's just a matter of opinion. I do agree on the 'better structured' part in the sense that Dutch is super complicated because of all the exceptions to every rule.

@XxXmizzshottaXxX Lol yeah Dutch is a language, not a dialect. Dutch is quite different than German. The only real similarity is that the way sentences are built (the order of the words) is practically the same. Example, in English you say "I'm going home", if you would translate the Dutch and German sentence literally you would basically get "I go to house". Other than that, German sounds more aggressive, some words are similar, but defenitely not all and it really is a different language.

I think where you got confused is the term Germanic languages, yes both German and Dutch are Germanic languages, and so is English, but they're both seperate languages, with a couple of similarities. If two languages can be understood by a speaker of the other language, doesn't make one a dialect of

Also, I don't necessarily find German and Dutch mutually intelligible (that thing where SOME Germans can understand Dutch) actually.
